Nashville did capitalize on a good amount of chances last night, but the defense was not there. In lineup news, Chris Mueller could step in for Zach Boychuk or Brandon Yip and Jon Blum could come in for struggling Scott Hannan.  The three keys to the game for the Preds are 1) Keep it simple, 2) Capitalize on chances and 3) Support Rinne. Flames: Being donned as one of the most underrated teams in the NHL, the Flames are looking to disprove that theory. Unfortunately, things haven't been going their way as they find themselves 14th in the West. Trade rumors have been distracting the team as of late with the trade deadline approaching as well, which isn't good for team chemistry. Leaders like Jarome Iginla, Jay Bouwmeester and Miikka Kiprusoff are being questioned of their play. Calgary hopes to gain some momentum and start a needed winning streak against the Predators after beating another Central Division opponent Detroit Red Wings, 5-2.  Former Pred Brian McGrattan should return to the lineup to faceoff against the team that traded him earlier this year. McGrattan may look to seek revenge against the club by dropping the gloves with Rich Clune, the most likely candidate. However, expect "Big Ern" to play a clean game to not upset his fans in Smashville. Cap1681 summarized the opinion of many voters nicely. “The problem...

Rinne's slump continues against Flames

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -- Curtis Glencross helps out in the chuckwagon barns every summer during the Calgary Stampede, so it was quite fitting that his second career hat trick was greeted to a hail of stetsons. Glencross scored three times in the third period to lead Calgary to a 6-3 victory over the Nashville Predators on Friday night, giving the Flames their sixth straight home...

Nashville Predators vs. Canucks betting odds and handicapping preview

4 Game Home Stand Begins vs. Predators Well, on paper, the Vancouver Canucks three game road trip was not a total disaster! Three points in two games against Columbus helped them garner three of a possible six points during the three game road swing. The Canucks return home Thursday to face a Nashville Predators team that has had as much trouble scoring goals as the Canucks as...

Scratch That…

By: Miranda Martin Miranda@PredneckNation.com With the Nashville Predators taking yet another loss against the Vancouver Canucks 7-4 Thursday night, there will likely be another big shakeup to the lineup. In all honesty, there were some very positive highlights to the loss, more so than usual. Even without Colin Wilson and Patric Hornqvist, the offense was able to score 4 goals ...

Coach Of The Year

I made my first coach of the year pick this season about a month ago.  It was Barry Trotz of the Nashville Predators.  I feel that he is a top coach and has been a top coach for years and it is a shame that he has not won the Jack Adams Trophy as coach of the year in the process.  He has done a wonderful job with the Predators and has not has his due in terms of awards.  I...

Predators-Oilers Preview

While they've had trouble getting consistent efforts lately, the Nashville Predators dominated the Edmonton Oilers earlier this month. The Predators will try avoid a third straight loss and reverse their road woes by beating the Oilers again Sunday night. Nashville (11-11-6) has lost six of its last eight overall, but it hardly looked like a struggling team when it hosted Edmonton...

Red Wings-Flames wrap-up: ‘disturbing’ is the right word to describe this loss

The Detroit Red Wings flew to Edmonton after their 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames, and after a third-period brain fart of epic proportions, and given that the Wings have gotten all of 1 point out of three games against the worst of the West in Columbus and Calgary, there was no reason to stick around. The Wings will be out of the playoff pack in terms of the standings by the time...

Early Morning/Late Night Trade Talk

from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN, - Keep an eye on the Los Angeles Kings if and when the Calgary Flames and Jarome Iginla decide to begin divorce proceedings.  While it’s been widely (and accurately) reported that Boston and Pittsburgh have interest in the Flames captain should he become available, I believe the Kings would be right there in the mix as well and could...

Flames too hot to handle for Predators

(Photo by: Gerry Thomas/Getty Images) The Nashville Predators lost to the Calgary Flames 6-3 Friday night, leaving the Predators without a point in the past two games. Scoring is no longer the entire issue for the Predators, but rather defense. “Right now defensively, weren’t not very good,” said Mike Fisher. Not too many people would think the defense would...
