Winnipeg Jets 1 vs Nashville Predators 3

The Nashville Predators snap their two game losing streak, by giving a solid sixty minutes at Bridgestone Arena. This game was a must-win, and they did win the game. Nashville's play tonight was about 10x better than Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Predators need to play like this every game, that means quick start, good management of the game, solid defense, good goaltending and staying out of the penalty box. Yes, that is very hard to do, but that is what a Stanley Cup team does.

Alexander Radulov has fit in very well with this team. You can tell by his play. Radulov has been making some nice passes because he knew where they were going to be. He has taken advantage of his time on ice by making good plays consecutively.

Gabriel Bourque, once again, had a great game. Bourque had a goal in only 10:51 of ice time. He could have had a hat-trick if Ondrej Pavelec didn't rob him three times tonight. It really showed his toughness when he blocked Dustin Byfuglien's shot from the point. As soon as it tagged him, he went down. Although four minutes later, wouldn't you know it he was back on the ice to create more chances and benefit to his team. I like this player because his size doesn't matter to him. Bourque is playing what many call, "Predators Hockey."

Barry Trotz's Line-Up Carousel

Barry Trotz mixed up the line-up, once again tonight. This mix worked really well. Jordin Tootoo came out of the line-up tonight, since he has not been performing to his potential. Many Preds fans have called him out for it.

Craig Smith came out of the line-up as Paul Gaustad was cleared to play from his injury. Also, Matt Halischuk came into the line-up in replace of Jordin Tootoo. Halischuk and Gaustad had a great game tonight, for their first game back.

Barry Trotz should go into Sunday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks with the same line-up. Tonight's roster really synched. All of the lines played their role really well either scoring, forechecking or special teams.

  • 14:52 in, Martin Erat's hooking call was killed off. Winnipeg had one shot on net.
  • 18:45 in, Gabriel Bourque should've called 911 because Pavelec's glove robbed him of a goal.
  • The first ended with no score. Nashville outshot Winnipeg 9-7.

Second Period

  • 2:56 in, Matt Halischuk scored alone on the left of Pavelec. That play was set up by Alexander Radulov, who drew both defenders on him. Radulov's no-look pass was perfect, and set up the first goal of the game.
  • 10:01 in, Nick Spaling's shot left a rebound for Gabriel Bourque in front, as he wheeled around Pavelec to score. That made it 2-0 Predators.

Third Period

  • 12:53 in, Tim Stapleton recieved a pass from the corner, and snapped the puck in the back of the net. Rinne had no chance. That made it 2-1 Nashville.
  • 14:44 in, Gabriel Bourque was robbed once again by Ondrej Pavelec. Bourque had 3 ft x 6 ft of room to score. Pavelec extended his leg pad to stop the shot, then raised his leg pad up to stop the second shot.
  • 14:47 in, Smashville did their standing ovation during the T.V. Timeout.
  • 14:55 in, Atlanta Thrashers jerseys were thrown onto the ice. I guess it was for tribute towards their old team.
  • 19:15 in, Ondrej Pavelec was sent to the bench for the extra attacker for the Jets.
  • 19:20 in, Claude Noel took his Time-Out.
  • 19:31 in, Martin Erat drew a hooking call, as he was going after the puck to try to get the empty net goal. Byfuglien went to the box for hooking.
  • 19:51 in, Shea Weber scored the power-play/empty net goal from the red line, off the face-off. That made it 3-1 Nashville.
  • The game ended with a 3-1 Predators win. Nashville outshot Winnipeg, 28-25.
