Nashville Predators 3, Dallas Stars 2

The Nashville Predators finally found a way to beat the Dallas Stars this season. The game went down to the wire when the Stars pulled their goalie, while on the power play.

My recap was almost all done, and I accidentally clicked the X button. Of course, I couldn't retrieve it and it wasn't save. But, I still did a decent job on everything. Although, there will be no "Period By Period Summary" until much later tonight. So, I will tweet when it is available.

How To Beat The Goalie

I thought that Richard Bachman was going to get the start when I wrote the Preview. Kari Lehtonen started last night, so it only made sense that Bachman would start for this game. What I am trying to say is that there is no story...

Although, I did find that Lehtonen was a rebound machine and over committed out of his crease a bit too much. Most of the goals the Predators scored were from Lehtonen out of position and giving up half of the net.

Hal Gill's First Game

Hal Gill had a decent game tonight. Gill wasn't flashy, and will never be. He played very conservative and it worked out well.
Finished the day with: a 2+/-, 2 Penalty Minutes, 1 Shot, and 16:23 of ice time.

For in-depth coverage of Gill' first game, go to Smashville 24/7.

7 Defensemen

Name Goals Assists +/- TOI Shea Weber 1 0 -1 24:03 Ryan Suter 0 1 0 25:30 Francis Bouillon 0 0 -1 17:51 Ryan Ellis 0 0 0 3:56 Roman Josi 0 0 1 15:33 Hal Gill 0 0 2 16:23 Kevin Klein 0 0 -1 17:22

The Nashville Predators had to go with seven defensemen in this game due to Mike Fisher being scratched this game due to having the flu. With no extra forwards in the line-up and having Patric Hornqvist and Brian McGrattan on injured reserve.

As we can tell by the stats chart, Ryan Ellis was just a bench warmer. We can expect, by this game, that Ellis will be the man scratched Tuesday.

Kevin Klein and Francis Bouillon didn't have a great night tonight. Neither did Shea Weber, even though he has over 24 minutes of ice time. Hal Gill had a good game by not being scored on and was on the ice when the Predators scored. We can only hope to see that the rest of the season.

Scoring Summary

Michael Ryder - Ribeiro and Eriksson at 6:49 in the 1st
Gabriel Bourque - Legwand and Halischuk at 15:39 in the 1st
PP Shea Weber - Suter and Kostitsyn at 19:59 in the 1st

Preds acquire Gill; send famous name to Habs

The Nashville Predators added a key piece for their expected playoff run in a trade with Montreal on Friday and, in the process, sent a player to the Canadiens who has a legendary family history with the NHL's most storied franchise. What Does Hal Gill Bring To Nashville?

from Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette, His mentorship last season of rookie defenceman P.K. Subban was incalculable. On the rink, when paired with Subban, Gill was the fallback, dependable steed when his partner, a frisky colt, strayed or got into trouble; off the ice, Gill helped teach Subban how to be a professional. Now Gill takes those qualities to Nashville to nurture young...
