Thoughts on Both Teams
Predators: If there was a word to describe the Predators currently, it would be "hot." Nashville is on a four game win streak and adding a fifth to that streak would be quite a successful task for not only the team, but the fanbase as well.
Pekka Rinne has played extraordinary since the 4-0 loss in Glendale to the Coyotes. Rinne has allowed only three goals in four games against and is undefeated since switching his goalie pads back to the Reebok Premier 4's.
The line of Colin Wilson-David Legwand-Gabriel Bourque was nothing short of great Thursday night against the Los Angeles Kings. Wilson (2) and Bourque combined for the only three goals for the Preds and the entire game. They are playing what Trotz calls "Predators hockey."
Wild: Minnesota is in trouble right now. Thoughts have been swirling around about the firing of head coach Mike Yeo because of their slow start to the season. "We have lost confidence," said Yeo about the state of their team in the midst of a three game losing streak.
Star defenseman Ryan Suter isn't playing a high standard of defense that is expected of him. Suter is a -7 in the +/- category through ten games. His offensive production is there, which should say something about the defense he has played looking at that stat.
Monday, the Wild made a trade with the New York Rangers for forward Mike Rupp to bolster up their physicality.

BEST OF MAXIM
THURSDAY'S STORY LINES: For the first time in his young career, 20 year-old forward Mikael Granlund will be a healthy scratch. Granlund, who has struggled of late, said after morning skate Thursday: "I need to be better. This is a tough league."
Granlund added this is not a place he wants to be and he needs to work hard to improve.
Mike Yeo said though he thought...
ST. PAUL, Minn. Devin Setoguchi was almost on one knee as he let the shot go and then he dropped to both knees and thrust his arms in the air. The relief from Setoguchi, the Minnesota Wild forward who had been dropped to the fourth line earlier this week, and the rest of his team was let out with one big goal.
Setoguchi, as much as any other Minnesota forward, has represented the...

Here is How to Beat Niklas Backstrom.
Get him moving: As said earlier, Backstrom has a tendency to flail around a reach for the puck once it is passed across the ice, instead he should make the easy slide to make the save.

ST. PAUL, Minn. Returning home from a pair of road losses, the Minnesota Wild believed their chance to pull out of their mini slump existed in Thursday night's game against the Northwest Division rival Vancouver Canucks.
Defenseman Ryan Suter said the heading in Thursday's contest against division-leading Vancouver was, "It's a playoff game." Minnesota then...

Ok, not really. But, I thought it would only be fair since I was Canuck bashing yesterday. And, I have had it with this team already!!!! Brutal, brutal, brutal performance last night. I feel bad for Setoguchi. He couldn't buy a goal if Zach Parise and Ryan Suter were bank rolling it for him.
And then, reading the comments after the game. Every so often, a reader is reading...

In front of a sold out crowd at Bridgestone Arena, the Nashville Predators and Pekka Rinne shutout the Los Angeles Kings, 3-0. "It wasn't pretty, but we got the win," said head coach Barry Trotz. Rinne, who received the number one star of the game, turned away all 32 shots that came his way. “I was seeing the puck...
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Devin Setoguchi's power-play goal at 4:21 of overtime gave Minnesota a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators and snapped the Wild's three-game losing streak on Saturday night.
Setoguchi took a pass from Mikko Koivu and fired a shot past Chris Mason for his first goal of the season and the Wild's 23rd in 11 games.

Boxscore | Recap
Definitely wouldn’t want to be a Wild fan right now. Their two big off-season acquisitions haven’t changed anything in Minnesota. It’s the same old bland brand of hockey.
The Canucks meanwhile are now off to their best start in eight years, so there’s that.

In this episode of The 303:30, presented by Brewhouse South, Jeremy and Codey discuss the Nashville Predators’ current four-game win streak and many other topics. The real gem of the first segment, however, is the sound bite of Head Coach Barry Trotz telling you how he really feels about captain Shea Weber’s lack of production.

The last thing the sputtering Minnesota Wild need right now is to face arguably the league's best defense and perhaps its hottest goaltender.
That, however, is likely what they'll be up against Saturday night when they host the Nashville Predators.
Expectations are sky high for the Wild (4-5-1) after the offseason signings of high-scoring forward Zach Parise and defenseman...
