As time expired in Game One of the Predators-Red Wings series Wednesday night, Preds’ defenseman Shea Weber got a little aggressive with Wings’ center Henrik Zetterberg’s head.  The two had been battling in the corner, but the puck was kicked aside and the final horn had gone off.  That’s when Weber, one of the NHL’s premier defenseman and someone whom the Wings have been rumored to be interested in this offseason, slammed Zetterberg’s head into the glass.  And that was after landing a punch to the back of Z’s head.

We’ll see if the NHL’s head disciplinarian, Brendan Shanahan, will act accordingly and suspend Weber before Game Two on Friday.  This would have played in the WWE, but then Zetterberg’s melon would have bounced off of a cushy pillow.  And while hockey would be a much safer game with cushy pillows above the boards, they haven’t gotten to that point yet.

If I’m playing Brendan Shanahan for a day, Weber deserves to sit out Game Two for these monkeyshines…at a bare minimum.  But, will ShanaBan have the stones to suspend one of the NHL’s best during the playoffs?  We should find out today.
