Season Records

Calgary Flames 14-13-2

Nashville Predators 14-11-4

On Tuesday night, the Nashville Predators will attempt to win their third game in a row when the Calgary Flames visit Bridgestone Arena. The Flames sit 11th in the Western Conference and have won three straight contests.

When the Flames are in town, all eyes turn to a goaltending duo between two of the finest Finnish netminders in the world: Predators netminder Pekka Rinne and Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff.

Rinne has only beaten the Flames once in his career and has a 1-5-2 record against Calgary with a 2.52 goals against average.

The Flames are surging after a rough start to the season and are 6-1-1 in the last eight games. While Calgary’s Kiprusoff has gone 6-0-1 in his last seven starts, posting a 2.19 goals against average, the Finnish netminder plays even better against the Predators.

Kiprusoff has a 14-4-1 record against Nashville in his last 19 starts with a 1.97 GAA versus the Predators. Overall, Kiprusoff has posted a 15-10-1-1 record against Nashville.

So far this season, the two teams have each won one game, exchanging shutouts both in Calgary. Nashville shutout the Flames early in the season when Rinne picked up his first win ever against Calgary in Nashville’s 2-0 victory on October 22. The Flames most recently beat the Predators 1-0 on November 29th. Calgary’s Derek Smith scored his first career goal in the NHL as well as the game’s only tally with 1:11 remaining in the first period. Kiprusoff stopped all 26 Nashville shots on goal.

While Rinne has struggled against the Flames, the Predators have a winning record against the Flames on home ice positing a 13-9-3 record at Bridgestone Arena. The Predators will try to extend that winning record when the puck drops at 7 pm CT.

Next up for Nashville, the Detroit Red Wings make their first visit to Music City Thursday night.
