Everyday until the trade deadline we'll post a proposed Penguins trade. You can send yours in over email to thepensblog@gmail.com.
But don't bother sending just the trade proposal. We want a detailed post with cap numbers, reasoning, etc.

This proposed trade is from reader Justin R.

Teams: St.Louis Blues/ Pittsburgh Penguins

To Pittsburgh: Chris Stewart, Conditional 4th round pick
To St. Louis: Paul Martin, Dustin Jeffrey, Eric Tangradi

Reasoning:
This trade works for both teams. The Blues are in need of a veteran puck moving defenseman and Paul Martin's style of play would work well in Ken Hitchcock's system. They have plenty of cap room to fill his contract moving forward and it would provide stability along their blueline come playoff time. In addition to Martin, the Blues would want a prospect whose proven himself at the NHL level and Jeffrey fills that void. Adding Tangradi also gives them another power forward prospect whose capable of playing in the NHL.
Stewart is a player the Penguins would really covet. He's a young power forward and is capable of putting up big numbers if playing with talents like Crosby and Malkin. He's a restricted free agent this summer but wouldn't demand a ridiculous salary and could be signed long term.

Financials:

Martin: $1,459,459
Jeffrey: $167,838
Tangradi: $246,892

Stewart: $839,189

Both teams are under the cap.

Summary:
Stewart could be lethal playing with Crosby. He's not putting up great numbers this year with only 11 goals and 22 points but he has a ton of potential. He put up 28 goals playing for the Avs/Blues last season and could have a James Neal type impact if he's on a line with 87. It's a move that makes sense for the Pens as they dump Paul Martin's contract to a western contender with plenty of cap space, and add another quality winger who can play with Crosby and Malkin.

Proposed Penguins lines:

Stewart/Crosby/Dupuis
Neal/Malkin/Kunitz
Kennedy/Staal/Cooke
Asham/Vitale/Sullivan/Adams

Orpik/Letang
Michalek/Niskanen
Lovejoy/Engelland/Despres
