The New York Rangers (32-12-5) defeated the Buffalo Sabres (21-24-6) by the score of 1-0 in a shootout, tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.
...now that's what you call a good old fashion goaltending duel. As a former netminder, that was fun to watch.
...guess the extra day of rest did Lundqvist well. That shootout save on Boyes has to be a save of the year nominee.
...shocker, Gabby doesn't deke in the shootout and he scores. Amazing how that works.
...that's what a captain does. Real edge to Callahan's game tonight.
...with all my focus on the awfulness that is the Rangers power play, I've completely neglected a pk unit that is one of the best in the NHL.
...back-to-back 30+ minute games for Girardi. If Torts doesn't get him some rest he could be limping to the finish line.
...Bickel only getting six minutes a night isn't helping.
...some nice setups by Richards tonight as has was very engaged offensively. Looked lost in the shootout though.
...how does Torts justify giving Anisimov more ice time than Hagelin?
...Dubinsky's really struggling right now.
...very encouraged with Staal's effort tonight. Turning a corner?
...off until Super Bowl Sunday when the Flyers are in town for a matinee at MSG.

QUOTES (via Blueshirts United):
"I could tell halfway through the first (period) that (Ryan) Miller was playing really well, and I knew I had to be focused and make good decisions out there. It was a fun game, lots of back and forth action. And I am really happy we got the win."
"It was draining, but I thought we stayed with it and battled through it. This team has been doing it all year like that, and this was a big two points for us, especially to win that way like we did.
"A couple times before (in the shootout) I have tried to deke, and haven't been too lucky with that. I know Miller is pretty quick down low so I tried to fake glove and go blocker, and it went in, thank God."
