The New York Rangers (5-3-3) defeated the Anaheim Ducks (5-5-3) by the score of 2-1 in a shootout tonight. For a boxscore and recap go to Yahoo! Sports.

...starting to get something going these Rangers. It wasn't always pretty tonight, but two points are two points and after the home stand started with a thud it's nice to see them headed in the right direction.

...sweet revenge for Hank on Ryan tonight.

...so much for Gaborik not being good in the shootout. Best player on the ice tonight.

...maybe Christensen is the full package? Ok, maybe not but when was the last time he's put together back-to-back effective games?

...back to the tub for Wolski. Torts is gonna be pissed.

...big time props to Deveaux for taking on Parros. Thought he held his own against one of the tougher guys in the NHL.

...should be interesting to see if Zuccarello gets the call up or Torts just goes with Avery if Wolski has to miss some time.

...Rangers sign D Anton Stralman tonight and Woywitka scores his first of the season. Funny how that works.

...thought Richards played real tough opposite Getzlaf tonight.

...how the heck did McD miss that layup in OT? Lucky his teammates bailed him out in the shootout.

...did the fans chanting "We Want Avery" tonight realize that he's back on the team?

...got to give Dubinsky credit for continuing to play hard despite being goalless this season.

...off tomorrow then the Habs on Saturday.

QUOTES (via Blueshirts United):

Henrik Lundqvist:

"It's a big relief for me to get a home win. My game has been there, I think, especially the first six, seven games, but when you are not winning it's very easy to question your game, and it comes down to winning. So to help the guys tonight get a W means a lot to me. I was upset I allowed that goal to (Teemu) Selanne (in the shootout), but then Gaby makes a great play to win it. It's a great feeling."

Marian Gaborik:

"Hank is one of the best, if not the best, goalies in the shootout. And we know that if nobody scores in overtime we have a greater chance to win than the opposite team because we have so much confidence in Hank. And he proved it tonight."

Jeff Woywitka:

"We came out strong, but we knew they were going to play desperate, too, because they lost a tough one a couple nights before in Washington. They've got some great hockey players over there, so to hold them to one goal is great. And to get it to a shootout and then win, you bank these points. It was a really grinding, confidence-boosting win for us."
