NY Rangers Blog:
The Rangers continued there pursuit of fourth line players with the signing of Tayler Pyatt to a two-year, $3.1 million deal yesterday. Pyatt had 9 goals and 10 assists in 73 games for the Coyotes last season....so Glen, are we going to address the lack of scoring issue or not? How many 3rd and 4th line players can one team have?...i guess you can say goodbye to Fedotenko. In more encouraging news, Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that the Rangers will be in the hunt for Shane Doan if the Coyotes' captain decides to leave Phoenix via free agency.Doan, who had 50 points last year (22g, 28a), is awaiting the resolution of Coyote ownership issues, possibly next week, before making a decision....if you've been reading the blog lately, you know I've been all over Doan so I am more than excited to hear this....although, to be honest, I didn't realize he only scored 22 goals last year. Thought he was closer to 30.In my daily Rick Nash update, Adam Portzline at the ...

The Rangers went ahead and signed depth forward Taylor Pyatt on Tuesday afternoon - a signing that could potentially pay off considering the 30-year-old's size and weight, coupled with his proven offensive ability. That fills a spot in the bottom six for the Blueshirts, but they are still in search for top six forwards who can help boost the team's goal production, especially...

Since pretty well, since day one of free agency, Doan has been the best free agent on the market that would suit Vancouver's needs. He would bring grit, size, leadership, and character. He could play in Vancouver's top 6 and give them the...
Now, NSH GM Poile MUST find out if he can re-sign Weber long term. If not, he needs to begin shopping him. NYR/STL have assets to make deal

...as I've posted on this blog, Weber is one of the few (very few) guys I'd be willing to give-up the farm for. The Rangers haven't had a legit power play quarterback since Leetch, and...
Coyotes forward Brett MacLean is reportedly improving at a hospital in Ontario after collapsing on the ice Tuesday night during a pickup game.
The 23-year-old MacLean, who received CPR at the rink in Owen Sound, Ont., and was hospitalized in intensive care after suffering what the Coyotes called a "cardiac emergency," is conscious and alert, according to his agent, Anton...
Brandon Prust learned a universal truth about the business of professional sports.
It is a business.
"It was a sad, crazy, mixed-emotion day," Prust said in a conference call Sunday to announce his signing of a four-year, $10 million unrestricted free agent contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
The Canadiens signed Colby Armstrong (one year, $1 million) and Francis Bouillon...

Yandle isn't exactly a Hall of Famer, but he's a solid top-four, maybe even top-two defenseman, coming off three straight 40-plus-point seasons Continue reading →
Via Darren Dreger, the Rangers have agreed to sign winger Taylor Pyatt to a two-year deal worth $1.55 million annually. The 30-year-old spent the last three seasons with the Coyotes, averaging 13-11-24 while playing in at least 73 games each year. Pyatt has also spent time with the Islanders, Sabres, and Canucks. I’ll leave the in-depth analysis up to our resident experts.

Say it ain't so, Feds. Philly?
(New York Rangers)
It is almost too quiet for free agency as July 2 comes to an end and the New York Rangers, one can say are making their fans very nervous by doing nothing. Maybe it's not fair to say that the team is doing nothing because nobody really knows what the Rangers are doing or not doing at the moment.
It is a rather strange set of circumstances as the entire...
from David Shoalts of the Globe and Mail, Once again, threats to the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes are mounting, which means the NHL is facing some unappetizing choices over the future of the franchise.
A petition to overturn a city sales-tax increase was delivered to suburban Glendale city officials Thursday. It could torpedo Greg Jamison’s proposed purchase of the Coyotes from...
