The Rangers continued there pursuit of fourth line players with the signing of Tayler Pyatt to a two-year, $3.1 million deal yesterday. Pyatt had 9 goals and 10 assists in 73 games for the Coyotes last season.

...so Glen, are we going to address the lack of scoring issue or not? How many 3rd and 4th line players can one team have?

...i guess you can say goodbye to Fedotenko.

In more encouraging news, Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that the Rangers will be in the hunt for Shane Doan if the Coyotes' captain decides to leave Phoenix via free agency.

Doan, who had 50 points last year (22g, 28a), is awaiting the resolution of Coyote ownership issues, possibly next week, before making a decision.

...if you've been reading the blog lately, you know I've been all over Doan so I am more than excited to hear this.

...although, to be honest, I didn't realize he only scored 22 goals last year. Thought he was closer to 30.

In my daily Rick Nash update, Adam Portzline at the Columbus Dispatch continues to insist the Blue Jackets aren't asking for the moon for Nash by saying Ryan McDonagh would not make sense as the centerpiece to any deal.

In response to that, Darren Dreger at TSN feels that Columbus GM Scott Howson should let the Rangers know that because multiple offers have been made and rejected.

...how does a possible franchise defenseman not make sense for one of the worst teams in the NHL? Stranger and stranger.

Pat Leonard at the Daily News has more on what might be holding up a possible Nash to Rangers deal.

Leonard adds that the Rangers are expected to work on a salary increase for Del Zotto in the upcoming weeks.

...very conflicted about Del Zotto. I think if Del Zotto is the big piece Columbus wants, Sather needs to pull the trigger as the Rangers defenseman has been disappointing. Having said that he's still just 22-years old and has the potential to be the Rangers power play quarterback for the next decade.

And finally, from the what were they thinking department, the Ottawa Senators have signed former Rangers first round bust Hugh Jessiman.
