We're huge fans of the Pens looking like ass right now. It was bound to happen when the streak ended. This is all happening at the best time possible, too. The Pens will be playing the 7 or 8 seed in the first round. Those two seeds will have hit some kind of stride by that time in order to battle through the logjam at the bottom of the East. So, let the Pens figure some **** out over the next few games and get their bearings. Also, to make further excuses, in the past two games, the Pens have faced two teams that are battling for their playoff lives every night.Buffalo was all jammed up before the deadline. The Rangers and their new makeup were jammed following the deadline.     Friday night should be a good barometer on how things really are. Unless the Pens lose again. In that case, we'll make some other excuse. Also no Crosby, Letang, and Martin ain't nothing to sleep on.     Recap:   FIRST PERIOD Ryane Clowe was all excited to start the game. All the new Rangers looked emotional. The story of the first period for a while was realizing Arron Asham is still in the league.   Ryan McDonagh clipped Cooke in the face behind the Rangers' net. Here is the reenactment of Cooke on the play: Pens had some looks on one-timers, but the King was standing tall. Killed. After a while, Kunitz went off for a ******** slash, so the PK unit was called upon. Long slapper from the point made it 1-0. Two minutes later, McDonagh was left all alone in the slot. Snipe on MAF. 2-0. Two minutes later, Derek Stepan made Orpik look really bad. Of course Ryane Clowe was there to get his first goal of the season.  3-0. Bylsma called a timeout. The timeout was a waste anyway, since there was some glass that needed to be repaired in the Pens' zone. Story of the game up to that point. Pens got a PP late but could barely get set up. Niskanen looked rough again. SECOND PERIOD Malkin looked possessed to start the second, but then he went to the box, and then the Rangers scored. Another newbie. Brassard.  4-0. Probably the most negative body language we've ever seen from Fleury. 30 seconds later, the Pens announced their arrival into MSG with a Dupuis goal off the rebound of a Bortuzzo shot from the point. 4-1. Pens couldn't capitalize on the little momentum that goal brought. The game kind of fell dead at that point. Cooke tripped up Powe after a bit. Glass and Asham both went off for something. Then Clowe scored again. 5-1.   :( THIRD PERIOD Rangers added another goal for good measure. 6-1. 4 of the Rangers' 6 goals were scored by bros making their Rangers debuts. GAME. MISCELLANEOUS -- Love that Bylsma kept MAF in for the entire game. Coming off his head/neck injury, it was good for him to see some game action, even if it looked like MAF was thinking about North Korea all game. -- Brenden Morrow, guys. -- Niskanen. Woof. Orpik. Woof.   -- Nice to see Bortuzzo back in the show.
