Fan of HBO's 24/7 won't have to worry about any awkward photo shoot scenes in the season finale next week. That's because the New York Rangers have waived winger Sean Avery for the second time this season, just days before the team takes on the Flyers in the annual Winter Classic, according to ESPN. Avery, 31, has three goals in 15 games this season and has been scratched for nine straight. He was sent to the team's AHL affiliate in Hartford, Conn., during the preseason and made his debut with the big club in November.

PLAYERS: Sean Avery
TEAMS: New York Rangers

  • i come from a family of generations of die hard ranger fans i have watched players come and go but never have i been so enraged about a player as sean avery being a healthy scratch and than put back on waivers i just saw on the pregame a statement made by avery saying he would play his heart out and prove himself with any team well you never have to prove anything to a true ranger fan because we all know you always play with your heart and how great you are for our ranger team and i as well as many ranger fans miss you every time you are not on that ice playing, for the first time my heart is not in the game when i watch and i am speaking of many many years of cheering the rangers on i wish some one would let myself and all the true blue ranger fans know why sean avery is not playing and why tortorella could possibly let a player like sean avery get away from us a very pissed off ranger fan,we really need sean avery on our team i wish they would put tortorella on waivers i wouldnt mind seeing him go!
