Barry Melrose Rocks:
We all know that Paul Stastny is master of the universe, but I mean, come on. Sam Gagner has to be making a push, right? Three signs that he is making a push to usurp Stastny's rule.1) See Above. That is his war cry, and associated battle charge. Stick out like a spear.2) In his last 5 games, Gagner has 8 goals and 7 assists (making a pace better than the entire Minnesota Wild team)3) In his last 5 games, Stastny has 0 goals and 4 assists. Sorry, Stastny, but bow down to Sam Gagner, new Supreme Commander of the Universe, Destroyer of Souls and the Western Conference.

The Edmonton Oilers have received plenty of league wide attention for the past few years, but it was never for a good or positive reason. But, that’s what 2 consecutive last place finishes will do.
Slowly, things have been changing. Monday’s game in the “centre of the universe” also known as Tornonto Ontario drew a media storm to not only the game, but also the morning...
In last Thursday's 8-4 win over Chicago, Edmonton's Sam Gagner officially racked up an eight-point night with four goals and four assists, all in the final two periods. It was the first eight-point game in the NHL since Pittsburgh's Mario Lemieux did it on Dec. 31, 1988, against New Jersey.
Replays later showed Gagner should have had only had seven points because he...
In Wednesday night hockey action, Sam Gagner beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-0. Unfortunately, the rest of the Oilers lost to the Detroit Red Wings by 0-4.
Here's a bunch of random comments on the frustration that is the Edmonton Oilers.
- Eberle is in the Top 10 in league scoring, and Sam Gagner is ripping up the NHL right now. Yet, five Oiler forwards had more ice-time during...
The Detroit Red Wings did just enough on Wednesday night to overcome the red-hot Sam Gagner and the Edmonton Oilers in a 4-2 home ice victory at the Joe Louis Arena. The win extended Detroit's home-ice winning streak to 18 games and was a successful start to their six-game homestand throughout the dog days of February.
Coming off a difficult road trip which saw several players...
Oilers lose 4-2 to Red Wings
At least Sam Gagner has been on fire lately. With two goals from Gagner, the Oilers may have been shutout by the hockey giant Red Wings. But, thankfully for the Oilers, Gagner has been incredible lately. Incredible enough to make many forget then he only had 5 goals up until a week ago. Now, he has 11.

Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun discuss whether the Leafs’ playoff push, the Oilers’ trade options and the Lightning’s decisions at the deadline.
Scott Burnside: Greetings, mon ami. You saw a pretty interesting hockey game last night in Toronto as the Leafs bested the streaking Edmonton Oilers (OK, streaking is a relative term when it comes to the Oilers) by a 6-3 count....
from Adam Proteau of The Hockey News, ...Here are the 10 NHLers most in need of a new playing home:
10. Mike Komisarek, Toronto
Komisarek’s stay in Toronto has been tumultuous to say the least, with the veteran defenseman often a healthy scratch when he wasn’t recuperating from a broken arm. He is under contract for two more years at $4.5 million per season, but if he can get...
For some mysterious reason which has something to do with parallel announcements at Comerica Park (which will be streamed online at NHL.com and DetroitRedWings.com) at 10:30 AM on Thursday and Michigan Stadium at 1:15 PM on Thursday, the Detroit Red Wings won’t practice on Thursday, but they earned the day off to promote the 2013 Winter Clas…I mean engage in a “major announcement”...
The Red Wings topped visiting Edmonton, 5-2, for their 18th straight win at home. Sam Gagner remained on fire scoring both of the Oilers' goals. (NBC Sports)

Post-game interviews with Sam Gagner, Jordan ...
The first 3 guys I wrote about all the way back on Saturday, just before whatever nasty microbial invaded me…..uhhh…. invaded me. On the bright side though, I’m down about 6lb’s in just 3 days! I can fit into my old jeans again! On top of that, I got to enjoy tea for the first time since the last time I was sick. Tea is good. I like-a-the tea.. Now enjoy my...
Despite the recent scoring outburst from Edmonton’s Sam Gagner and the best efforts over the last number of weeks from Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin, it doesn’t appear as though we’ll be seeing any scoring records fall during ...
