Game 4 is the biggest game of the year for the Detroit Red Wings and it may well tell the story for the rest of the playoffs. If the Red wings can come out and handle the Blackhawks like they did in Games 2 and 3, watch out. A young team with the amount of confidence that could result from taking a 3-1 lead on heavily-favored Chicago would be tough for anyone to beat. Jimmy Howard has become the backstop Wings fans have been waiting for — save for those few years with Dominik Hasek (and depending on your opinion of Chris Osgood), Detroit has not had many goalies capable of taking over in playoff series. Howard, though, has held the wings in there while they figure out the opposition, and he won that series for the Wings against the Ducks, in my opinion. Game 4 at the Joe will be very entertaining, probably the best of the series thus far. Can the Hawks compose themselves and stay even-keel? Can the Wings come out and have that great puck control they showed us in the past two games? Will the Detroit defense hold up against Chicago’s offensive juggernaut that is just waiting to explode? The Chicago Blackhawks won the Presidents’ Trophy and set NHL records for a reason: They are a great team. But that’s why the games are played on the ice, not on paper — Game 4 will be a fun battle to watch. A fired-up and ticked-off Blackhawks team going up against the even-tempered, confident Red Wing squad. Wings win and they take a stranglehold on the series; Hawks win and it’s a best-of-3 … and anyone’s series to win. It will be fast-paced and emotion-filled, and the Wings will have to be on their game again from the get go. Let’s drop the puck already.
