The San Jose Sharks added some toughness and defensive depth at the trade deadline Wednesday by dealing draft picks to acquire forward Raffi Torres from Phoenix and defenseman Scott Hannan from Nashville.
The Coyotes received a third-round pick in this year's draft for Torres while the Predators will get either a sixth or seventh-rounder for Hannan.
After starting the lead-up to the trade deadline by dealing bruising defenseman Douglas Murray, physical forward Ryane Clowe and center Michal Handzus, general manager Doug Wilson made some additions to help a team that has won five straight games to move from ninth place to sixth in the Western Conference playoff race.
''This group earned that equity by their performance,'' Wilson said. ''They earned the ability and the need to add these type of guys who are playoff type guys and give you the depth that you need.''

Turns out Doug Wilson wasn’t done dealing when he traded Ryane Clowe on Tuesday. The Sharks added a pair of players in two separate deals before Wednesday’s NHL trade deadline.
First, San Jose received defenseman Scott Hannan from the Predators for a conditional seventh-round pick in this year’s draft. The pick becomes a sixth-rounder if Hannan, who has a grand total of zero...

#SJSharks conditional deal for Hannan: NSH gets 7th round pick, but if he sees action in a playoff game, that moves up to 6th.

In a somewhat partial attempt to create deadline excitement, the Nashville Predators have traded defenseman Scott Hannan to the San Jose Sharks in return for a conditional 7th round pick. In 78 games with Calgary last season, Hannan had 2 goals and 10 helpers. He was a -10 and spent 38 minutes in the penalty box. [...]
After trading Ryane Clowe to the New York Rangers yesterday, the Sharks have bolstered their strength by adding Raffi torres for a 2013 third rounder. On July 1, 2011, Torres signed a two-year contract worth $3.5 million with the Phoenix Coyotes. He recorded his first goal nearly a month into the 2011–12 season, in a 3–2 shootout loss [...]
The Phoenix Coyotes seemingly waved the white flag on their playoff hopes at Wednesday's NHL trading deadling, dealing off three veteran forwards.
Raffi Torres went to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a third-round pick in 2013, Matthew Lombardi was dealt to Anaheim for Brandon McMillan, and Steve Sullivan was dealt to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a seventh-round...
The San Jose Sharks have turned their season around with an impressive winning streak. Now they have some reinforcements to help them continue their playoff push.
Raffi Torres is expected to make his Sharks debut as San Jose looks to extend its winning streak to seven games Friday night against a Calgary Flames team looking to end the longest road skid in franchise history.
The Phoenix Coyotes unloaded three veteran players from their roster for a minor leaguer and two draft picks at the trade deadline.
On the surface, it looks like a team giving up on the season.
The Coyotes insist the three deals were necessary moves for a team that's under the financial restraints of being run by the league for the fourth straight season.

As the NHL trade deadline expired, it appeared that Preds GM David Poile had chosen to keep the roster almost entirely in tact, only trading D Scott Hannan to the SJ Sharks for a 7th round conditional draft pick in 2013. In the minutes just after the deadline, the NHL Network announced there was a trade involving the Washington Capitals ...

Trade deadline 2013 was a day of shock and jubilation for most Nashville Predators fans.
First and foremost, the tumultuous and medicore Scott Hannan era drew to a close. Hannan was jettisoned off to San Jose, and get this: they gave us a draft pick for him! Can you believe it?
Riding that high alone, social media seemed to be of the...
