The Penguins were given a reprieve from their injuries for at least a night against Detroit. It was feared that centers Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal would be unavailable.
BEST OF MAXIM
Just a little over two weeks ago the Penguins were sitting pretty good with all their stars healthy and back on the ice. Now we are all of a sudden back to the injury shuffle. In a little surprise Evgeni Malkin wasn’t on the ice this morning for the game day morning skate. Coach Dan Bylsma acknowledged that Malkin would be a game time decision but no further details were...
Pittsburgh Penguins centers Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal will be game-time decisions for Tuesday's matchup with the Detroit Red Wings.
Malkin was a no-show at Tuesday morning's skate and coach Dan Bylsma did not shed any light on his situation.
He has back-to-back two-point games and has 10 goals and 18 assists in 23 games.

Coach Dan Bylsma said before the game that Evgeni Malkin, not in morning skate, was a "game-time decision" for the Pens.
Because this is what we needed. From the Penguins game day report:
Head coach Dan Bylsma said Malkin is a game-time decision and gave no other details. He also confirmed that Staal is a game-time decision as well.
Staal took part in the morning skate. Malkin did not. Jason Williams has been called back up from WBS.

Penguins center center Jordan Staal, suffering from a lower-body injury, played earlier this week in a loss to the Red Wings.
Evgeni Malkin scored once, but later hit two posts and was robbed by Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard, as the Penguins ultimately fell to the Red Wings.
Despite the absence of the league's best offensive player in Sidney Crosby on Tuesday night, the matchup still provided a rare glimpse of two of the league's top Russian forwards facing off against each other.
Centers Evgeni Malkin and Pavel Datsyuk put on fantastic performances on Tuesday night with Datsyuk getting the better of his countryman, leading the Red Wings to...
The Red Wings could be facing a Pittsburgh Penguins team missing its top three centers tonight at Consol Energy Center, as Sidney Crosby is out for sure, and Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal are questionable.
The Detroit Red Wings may as well have been playing the Pittsburgh Penguins in April given the sandpapery grit and grind, vicious intensity, immense attention paid to detail by both teams and nothing less than a grudge match’s worth of effort as lines neutralized their opponents and, for a while, anyway, it looked like the game would only showcase Evgeni Malkin and Pavel Datsyuk’s...
There are great moments in hockey every day, but some speciffically stand out. With about one third of the season already over, let's take a look at some of the goals of the year. In my mind, these were the top five. Evgeni Malkin Goal Versus Colarado 11/15/11This is Evgeni Malkin at his very best. Malkin showcases his quickness and deking skills on this play as he undresses...
The difference between, “Yeah, but…” and, “Yes, because…” The Detroit Red Wings’ 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins involved perhaps the first appearance of road-worthy grit from the Red Wings as well as a few fortunate bounces—in the form of two goalposts hit by Evgeni Malkin, a diving save by Jimmy Howard anda gloved-down keep-in by Pavel Datsyuk which swiftly...
