Kari Lehtonen made 19 saves for his 25th win of the season as the Dallas Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 on Friday night.
Michael Ryder, Radek Dvorak and Tomas Vincour scored for the Stars, who have won five of their last six.
Sam Gagner scored the only goal for the Oilers, who have lost three of their last four and remained second-to-last in the NHL.
There was a bit of a scare for the Oilers early on as Taylor Hall crashed into the boards and skated gingerly to the bench, but he was able to return and play the rest of the game.

Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow has resumed skating and is nearing a return from neck and back injuries."This is the first skate in about three weeks, and so far, no pain. I guess that's a good sign," Morrow said Thursday.Morrow has missed 14 games and hasn't played since Feb. 2 at San Jose. The 33-year-old said he's "nowhere near game shape" and...
Another night, another controversy in the NHL. On Wednesday night in Dallas, Eric Nystrom took out Kris Letang with what appeared to be a hit the head. Nystrom received a minor for roughing on the play, which was popularly argued about by Mike Milbury and Jeremy Roenick. Check out the hit for yourself below, and leave your thoughts on the play in the comments section.
The latest Edmonton Oilers rumor has me very excited. Reports have surfaced suggesting the Oilers are among the teams interested in obtaining Cory Schneider's services in the off-season. Schneider is the best young goalie in the game today. I believe if Cory Schneider became an Edmonton Oiler such a transaction would dramatically accelerate the rebuilding process of the franchise...
from Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, • The Bruins and Blackhawks made a pitch to Dallas for D Sheldon Souray, while Colorado and Vancouver made offers for Stars W Steve Ott. The deals didn’t go down because GM Joe Nieuwendyk wanted players who could step into the lineup right away with Dallas still battling for a playoff spot.
• The Flyers were close on a deal that would...
According to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, Eric Nystrom will face no discipline for his hit on Kris Letang.
Still no word on Letang's status.
Edmonton Oilers’ defenceman Ladislav Smid has never been thought of as an offensive defenceman, but his 3 goals this season are another reason for people to take note. There is of course also Smid’s (at times) league leading number of blocked shots and team leading number of hits to discuss, but goals from a stay at home defenceman are what doesn’t quite fit the trend.
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin will be back in net for Friday's game against the Dallas Stars.
Khabibulin has been sidelined since suffering a groin injury in a game against Vancouver on Feb. 19.
The 39-year-old Russian has posted a 12-16-5 record with two shutouts and 2.60 goals-against average this season.
from Cam Cole of the Vancouver Sun, It’s the ’99 Dallas Stars all over again, only they’ve moved to Missouri.
Hitch in St. Louis, Darryl Sutter in L.A., throw in Phoenix’s Dave Tippett for good measure ... they’re dragging hockey back to the dead-puck era. Suffocating defence, unadventurous offence, happy to win 1-0.
Only one problem, Hitchcock said Thursday. It’s just...

Question of the Day:
Will the NHL fine and/or suspender Dallas defender, Eric Nystrom, for his check of Kris Letang on Wednesday? How much/how long?
I couldnât find any previous Eric Nystrom suspensions. He did break the leg of Edmonton defender, Taylor Fedun...

Letang was hit in the first period by Dallas left wing Eric Nystrom, whose right arm made contact with Letang's head. Letang, who missed almost two months with a concussion earlier this season, did not return to the game.
