ATLANTA - JANUARY 14: Goaltender Ryan Miller #30 of the Buffalo Sabres against the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena on January 14, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

---A lot has been made about Ryan Miller's comments about being upset with the Sabres trading Paul Gaustad. As I wrote on Twitter, I didn't think it was that big of a deal as star players tend to voice their displeasure whenever a teammate leaves. It was done when Bruce Smith complained about Darryl Talley leaving and I'm sure multiple players and coaches weren't happy when Briere and Drury bounced. This is the same guy he's shared a locker room with for almost 10 years dating back to their days in Rochester. Yes, he's going to miss his little buddy. Is that wrong? I think the people who were displeased about his comments were either media members who have grown tired of dealing with Miller on a everyday basis (Hell, I think the only media guy who likes him is Bucky.) or fans who just don't like him. Sorry, but if Derek Roy said this, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Also, unless they trade the first round pick, the draft pick won't be up in Buffalo until probably 2015. By then, Miller will probably be gone.

---Ironic, but this isn't the first time Miller had his teammates back after leaving. Miller spoke glowingly about Tim Connolly during the summer with his interview in the Toronto Sun about the media mistreating him. I'm pretty sure there were way more fans who wanted #30 to shut up then. Hmmm...I wonder why?

---As for Miller's recent play, he has been lights out. I don't know if it has to do with the blueline being healthy or his head is on straight after Lucic almost removed it, but he's in the zone. He's playing his best hockey since his Olympic year. Since January 24th, Miller has allowed two goals or less in 11 of his last 16 games. Before the 24th, Miller only reached that stat 9 times. The dude is on. It is weird, but I've had so many different emotions towards Miller. Overrated. Hero. Annoying. Sad. Stupid. Great. Stunk. Trade him. As of right now, I'm kind of rooting for him. Yes, I've been one of those stone throwers, but after a while, I kind of started feeling bad for the guy, especially when the stupid wife stuff gets brought up. I now find him to be a little bit of an underdog because some fans/media have turned their back on him. I'd rather have him in our good graces than trying to rip the guy down.  Of course, him playing better adds to that and with his recent surge, he can say whatever the f#$k he wants about Goose.

---Four points out, huh? Hmm. I wanna say they will make the playoffs, but I think it would make me into a total bandwagon fan. Also, I think the whole self-deprecating mentality of my fandom towards Buffalo sports has a lot to do with not thinking they will make it. However, I still think the Sabres are better than the teams fighting for 8th place. Crazy how things change. You have to be impressed with how they have been playing over the last month. I say they will...keeping it to myself.

--- Sorry to be Mr. McGoo, but I'm not there yet with giving Darcy some sort of government pardon because he made a couple of deals on paper that looked good. Yes, I'd rather have a playmaking center over a tough guy, but neither Kassian or Hodgson are at their peaks yet and who knows if they will get there. It will be a deal that we won't be able to judge for at least another year. I will say though that the Sabres are risking more in the deal. If the deal doesn't work out for the Mothercanuckers, what is the big deal? They still have the Sedins and are a powerhouse. As for us, we would still have Derek Roy and insert winger who is converted to center. Lastly, what is with the comments about "This is what happens when the shackles are removed from Darcy?" Um, Ville Leino and Brad Boyes? Whatever. I get it, trade deadline is fun and we need to believe in something.

---What the hell is wrong with Thomas Vanek? Four goals over the last two months! All of a sudden, the dude will be lucky to reach 30 goals this year. Surprisingly, no one has really mentioned his struggles. I don't know what it is with Vanek. I know scorers are streaky, but holy crap. 18 goals during the first 3 months of the season to this? Something is up. Maybe he misses Luke Adam?

--The Sabres are 4-0-1 in there last 5 games and have scored only 9 goals. Yes, 9 goals!! Thank Ryan Miller. Forget giving Miller the weird golden helmet after games. They should just bronze him in gold.

---You always hear about guys playing extra hard during their contract years, right? It might be BS or true, but with Derek Roy going into his last year of his 6-year deal he signed in 2007, if I'm a betting man, I bet he goes nuts next year. If you have seen the video of his crib on NHL.com, dude would definitely want some new toys. Maybe the Sabres will be better off keeping him and seeing if they can deal him at next year's deadline when his value will surely be up.

---As a few people said on Twitter, Miller went to the west coast, got laid and got two shutouts. Yeah, I'm picturing when Rocky hooked up with Adrian and was then able to beat hanging dead meat in a freezer the next day. The power of getting Hollywood ass!

---Well, I guess it is safe to say that the Bills won the Lee Evans trade.

---I know Buddy Nix said they wouldn't reach for a pass rusher, but I'm at the mindset that they should. That is a Grand Canyon like hole they need to fill. If I put on my stupid draft pundit hat, I say trade out of it if you think you can get someone in the higher teens. I really need that pass rusher! Also, what is with the left tackle talk? Sorry, but the offensive line allowed the least amount of sacks by a Buffalo team since the NFL started tracking down the stat in 1982. Why do we need the help at LT? We had like three different guys start at tackle and I didn't notice that big of a drop. Did you?

---Pay Stevie Johnson..please! I need the Bills to do something nice for me this decade and that would be a start.

---Ryan Braun and his lawyer seriously need to step away from a TV. The reasoning for why he was able to avoid suspension is about as lame as you can get. I'm talking Bill Clinton inhaling all over again.

---Gary Bettman admitted on Costas Now that "No Goal" was in his top 3 mistakes for the NHL. Well, they need to restart the game then!!

---Does anyone think that when you apply for a job at a mega conglomerate's website (IE: ABC, CBS, or New Era), that they actually check your resume? I happen to think it goes into some dark abyss of doom.

---Heat and Thunder for NBA Finals. Book it.

---I love Kobe Bryant. I've enjoyed his metamorphosis as a person. He went from doing corny McDonald's commercials -when he would ask a 6-year old to play hoops- to throwing  F-Bombs in ever other video. He's a cool dude.

---Random NBA opinion: I'm not buying the Sixers. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games and even though they can shut down the opposition, they just don't have enough scoring punch. There leading scorer averages 15.5 points a game. That's not good. I like Doug Collins, but like it seems to happen every where he goes, they start off strong, but die at the end.

---If you aren't following Randy Moss on Twitter, you are missing out on UStream gold. He's the man.

---I don't know what to make of the Knicks yet. They have tons of offensive firepower, but they haven't really beaten anyone yet. Sure, they beat the Lakers, but LA is old and had just played the night before. Don't underestimate JR Smith. When that dude is on, he can go for 30.  He's never been afraid to take a shot.

---TV idea: NHL should launch a channel called "NHL Extreme". It will be a classic ripoff of The NFL Red Zone channel, where they will have live look-ins for powerplays, OT, fights and shootouts whenever they happen. Seriously, tell me a more exciting part of a hockey game than those moments? Get on it NHL and credit me with the idea and some cash.

---Love The Walking Dead. I'm starting to side with the loose cannon Shane. It is a new world, Rick. Every time Rick seems to show some sort of good moral compassing, it bites him in the ass. Also, I think old man river (The bearded one) needs to die. Dude is just creepy. Frankly, if any sort of zombie apocalypse happens, it's best that the women and men get separated. All the struggles on this show have to do with sexual feelings. If it was just "Guys night out to kill zombies", they would have found a boat by now. Instead, they are all chasing tail. Typical.

---Shout out to Stevie Johnson, who read new BW.com contributor Alex Jankowski's piece on him. THAT'S F'N AWESOME!
