Islanders’ recent struggles could put Capuano’s job in jeopardy

It’s impossible to make the argument that Islanders coach Jack Capuano isn’t trying, or that he doesn’t care. Yet, as of late, it’s easy to make the argument that all of the effort and passion has gone for naught, as Capuano’s team fell again on Saturday night at the Coliseum, a 3-2 overtime loss to the Capitals which was the Islanders’ sixth loss in a row — the past...

Islanders’ Matt Martin trying to become NHL’s first 400 hit man

The “hits” statistic in the NHL is a dubious one. After all, puck possession should be the primary objective for any team, and chances are you’re checking someone to gain a puck you don’t possess. The other problem with the stat is the nebulous accounting that undercuts its credibility. Some arena scorekeepers determine “a hit” differently. Some shower home players with...

Pittsburgh Penguins vs New York Islanders: The Rivalry by @ChicksDigHockey
