Only one prospect saw action on Sunday as Tommy Hughes (NYR UFA 2013) and his London Knights hosted the Plymouth Whalers in game 2 of their OHL Western Conference Finals. This one went to a double overtime before Plymouth scoring on a power play goal for a 4-3 win and a 1-1 tie in their series.
Hughes hard a rough game being on the ice for all 4 of the Plymouth goals including getting beat directly on the game winner winds up as the goat in this loss. These are the kinds of days that young defensemen have so now the test is to see how Hughes will bounce back in game 3 when the series shifts to Plymouth for the next 2 games.
And while it is easy to point the finger on Hughes as the goat, he wasn't alone in why his London Knights lost. London had 10 power play chances including 3 of them in the overtime periods but only cashed in on 2 of them so there is one area.
London outplayed Plymouth in the first overtime but couldn't cash in on any of the 20 shots they took which is area #2. And they could not contain Plymouth's Tom Wilson who had 3 out of the 4 Plymouth goals as the 6'4 winger imposed his will on London whenever he wanted too.
The series shifts to Plymouth now with game's 3+4 on Tuesday and Wednesday so let's see how Tommy Hughes and his Knight bounce back.
