Panthers place goaltender Tim Thomas on injured reserve

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Florida Panthers will have to make due without starter Tim Thomas again. Coach Kevin Dineen announced the team placed Thomas on injured reserve Wednesday with a lower-body injury. The netminder is ineligible to play Friday against the Buffalo Sabres and Sunday versus the Tampa Bay Lightning. "We're confident he's not going to be long-term,...

Panthers Place Tim Thomas on Injured Reserve After Goalie Gets Reinjured Against Blackhawks

Tim Thomas‘ return to the NHL probably isn’t going the way he drew up. The Florida Panthers veteran goalie has looked every bit of his 39-year-old age in his return to the league after sitting out last season. The goalie injured his groin just three games into the season but did recently return form that injury. That didn’t last long, though. Thomas reaggravated that groin...

Panthers' Sean Bergenheim practices for first time in 2013

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Florida Panthers are closer to seeing Sean Bergenheim in action again. How much closer, though? No one is quite sure. Bergenheim took part in his first full practice Monday since returning from Toronto, where he rehabbed a pair of core injuries. "It was crucial," Bergenheim said of his week-long trip to Canada. "We really did some stuff there...

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Mike Kostka will be out four to six weeks with a lower-body injury, as reported by Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. He suffered the injury on Tuesday after the team’s morning skate. As such, he obviously did not play in the Hawks’ 3-2 shootout win against the Florida Panthers later that night. The Florida Panthers are desperate to get fans in the seats at the BB&T Center. As if offering season tickets for as low as $7 a game wasn't enough, the Panthers are now offering a free ticket for their next home game to everyone who attends a Florida victory with a single game ticket.  Their new motto: "We win, you win."  What an incredible deal. If you...

Yzerman Continues To Build The Lightning

from Tracey Myers of CSNChicago, Yzerman is trying to do in Tampa what his former team, the Detroit Red Wings, have done for years. It’s also been part of the Chicago Blackhawks’ blueprint in their rise back to success and winning two Stanley Cups in the past four seasons. Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman says it constantly: you have to develop your own talent, you...

Kris Versteeg hasn't paid close attention to the team he helped win a Stanley Cup since leaving Chicago four seasons ago. But the Panthers forward has a good idea of what to expect when the Blackhawks visit the BB&T Center Tuesday night. "You kind of know every night what kind of game you're going to get from them. They've played pretty much the same way the...

Tampa Scores on Own Net; Jonathan Toews Gets Credit For Goal

Easy goal for Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews eh? I would imagine that this flukey goal will create a buzz on the internet in the near future. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, they still ended up losing in to the Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime.  That was the fourth goal of the season for Toews who seems to have gotten off to a slow start for the Blackhawks scoring (4g-3a—7pts) in 10 games.

Penalty Killed by   Jack Weber

First off, I apologize for not writing the last four games. I know I said I’d be back for Saturday’s game, but, well, I wasn’t. In my absence, the Kings beat the Florida Panthers by a score of 2-0 with Ben Scrivens making 20 saves for the shutout in his first start as a King, lost to the Tampa Bay [...]
