The Arizona Sundogs 2013-2014 season was one for the record books, literally. Although the season didn’t end in their second Presidents Cup, the Sundogs organization and their fans had plenty to look back on and be proud of. Enough talking about it, let’s look back at the top 5 moments of the Arizona Sundogs 2013-2014 season – their eighth in the Central Hockey League.   5. Sundogs Set Record The Sundogs faithful were able to break Arizona’s record for largest crowd for a game. The Sundogs’ fans showed their commitment by having 5,218 people show up for a day game against the Rapid City Rush on January 29, 2014. 4.Geoffrion CHL Man Of The Year Finalist Sebastian Geoffrion among the Five Finalist for the CHL’s “Man of the Year” Award. When it came time for the CHL to announce their six finalists for the man of the year award; an award that goes to the player who best demonstrates commitment to community service, a Sundogs player made that list. Forward Sebastian Geoffrion was named a finalist for the CHL Player of the Year award and although he didn’t win, it was still quite the honor for Geoffrion. 3. Well, the CHL decided to recognize Engelage for his efforts by naming him outstanding goaltender of the year. 1. Sundogs Stand Alone In The Record Books The Arizona Sundogs entered the playoffs as the eighth seed and were matched up against the heavily favored Missouri Mavericks. What proceeded to happen next was a series to remember. Multiple overtime games, coupled with timely goaltending from Sundogs goalie Andrew Engelage, led to Arizona pulling off the biggest upset in the history of the CHL. An eight seed had never pulled off an upset of a one seed in the playoffs; not until this season.   Staff writer: Michael Memmolo is a passionate hockey fan who loves to share thoughts & opinions regarding everything having to do with the sport; especially when it has to do with the Boston Bruins.
