The Bruins got some good news and some bad news on the blue line injury front Wednesday morning at practice. First, the good news. The encouraging sign for the Bruins was that defenseman Torey Krug returned to practice after missing Tuesday’s session. The rookie defenseman was dealing with some sort of undisclosed issue, but Claude Julien said on Tuesday that he expected Krug to be back on the ice for Wednesday’s practice, which the D-man was. Krug is obviously expected to play Thursday against Montreal, which leads us to the bad news for the B’s. Defenseman Adam McQuaid missed practice Tuesday and was not on the ice Wednesday, either. Unsurprisingly, he will not make the trip to Montreal and obviously won’t play in the team’s first game against the Canadiens this season. McQuaid reaggravated a previous lower-body injury, presumed to be a groin issue, and any sort of timetable for his eventual return is unknown at the moment. The Bruins did recall Kevan Miller from Providence on an emergency basis Monday afternoon, so he could be an option on Thursday against the Habs. The B’s also have Matt Bartkowski in the mix who was reinserted into the Boston lineup when Bartkowski missed eight games with his injury the first time around.Filed under: Boston Bruins, Headlines, Mike Cole
