Six months ago, fantasy hockey players started on a journey that would be filled with many highs and lows. There have been a lot of injuries and some very significant ones at that. We saw Sidney Crosby go down a couple times this year and miss quite a big chunk of time. Then there was the likely career ending concussion to Chris Pronger. It has been a tough year to gauge the top rookies, breakout players, and primetime warriors. Those are the three categories we are using for this season ender known as the “Best Of The Best”. The reason we went with a bit of chronological youngest to oldest was simply because we could. For each category, we take our three best players and then add in a few honorable mentions. Yes that may stir up some more debate but remember this is from a fantasy hockey point of view. First we spotlight those young players, err rookies that have really shined in their first full seasons in the National Hockey League.ROOKIE RISERS:Gabriel Landeskog, LW, Colorado Av...

Malkin and Crosby “dirtiest players” according to Flyers assistant coach

The aftermath of the fight between the Flyers and the Penguins is almost worse than the actual fight.  There has been constant talk from both sides since Sunday, and even some people not involved with the organizations.  Let’s review and then we’ll get to the new stuff from today. First there was the fight on Sunday, and if you haven’t seen it a million times already, you...

Sidney Crosby diving propaganda emerges

The rest of the NHL apart from Penguins fans don’t quite adore Sidney Crosby the way referees seemingly do, and a visual aid of his shenanigans has emerged. While I’m indifferent to Crosby, many of you who don’t take kindly to his diving habits will enjoy these pictures.

Crosby Calls Out Callahan, Expects Torts to Apologize

War has been declared.  It was expected that the Pittsburgh Penguins would retaliate the first chance they got after Rangers head coach John Tortorella lashed out against them following last night's game, calling them an "arrogant" organization and referencing Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin as "whining stars".  But the actual retaliation, which came...

Crosby Calls Callahan a Whiner?!?!?!?

In his post practice press conference today, Sidney Crosby said this about John Tortorella calling him a whiner..."I don't know what he's talking about. I mean, if you want you can put a camera on us all game, put a camera on (Ryan Callahan) all game. You'll see who's over there more. He should worry about his own players."...Is he effin kidding me? Absolutely...

Crosby And Bylsma On Tortorella’s Comments

from Brittany Goncar and Sam Kasan of the Penguins website, Sidney Crosby spoke with the media following Friday’s practice… On if he heard John Tortorella’s comments: No, I vaguely heard what he said. I figured he was just blowing up. I’m sure he’ll apologize today about it and everything will be forgotten. On himself and Evgeni Malkin being called a whiner: I don’t...

Rangers Set to take on the Penguins

While the New York Rangers have already clinched the top spot in both the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference, the team still has two games left against two solid hockey clubs. Tonight, the Blueshirts will be in Pittsburgh to take on Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. While the game has little significance for both clubs, it should still end up being a good hockey game...

Malkin nets 50th goal to lock up scoring title in win over Flyers

Captain Sidney Crosby scored to snap a tie late in the second period and Evgeni Malkin added his 50th goal moments later as host Pittsburgh won 4-2 over Philadelphia on Saturday.Pascal Dupuis celebrated his 33rd birthday by scoring to extend his points streak to 17 games. Chris Kunitz joined Crosby and Malkin with a goal and an assist as the Penguins defeated the Flyers...

The Penguins, the Playoffs, and You (or: "Boy are We Glad We're Not Playing the Rangers in the First Round")

We're feeling very wordy today, so we'd like to start this post with an eloquent little quip, something that really sets the tone for the quality of writing you can expect from us moving forward: Screw you, Rangers. Yesterday marked two full days since Sunday's WWE event at the Consol Energy Center, yet there was still a ton of fresh news about the festivities coming...

Link City: Berube mouths off

Flyers assistant coach, Craig Berube, thinks that Malkin and Crosby are the two dirtiest players on the Penguins. [PHT] Berube knows a thing or two about being a dirt ball, he once punched a referee in the face: Peter Laviolette and the Flyers can no longer look forward to having ribs from a West Virginia restaurant after games in Pittsburgh.  The owner, a...

The Program’s Fantasy All Stars

As promised earlier, here is Chris Wassel’s list of fantasy all stars. He has also included some top rookies, “vintage wines”, and a second all-star team in addition to the first all-star team. You can find Chris’ work on both fantasy hockey and general interest hockey on his site, The Program. Six months ago, fantasy hockey players started on a journey that would be filled...
