*THE FOLLOWING BELOW IS NOT WRITTEN BY THE ROYAL HALF, BUT RATHER PUMPERNICHOLL, OUR MASTER RECAPPER* KINGS 2, BLACKHAWKS 3   Wow. What a high Los Angeles Kings fans have been on since the end of Game 3. Their team bounced back on home ice to cut the Chicago Blackhawks series lead to 2-1. What seemed like an impossible comeback suddenly was within the team's grasp. If the Kings could hold serve on home ice, it would be a brand new series heading back to Chicago. And winning at the Staples Center had become something expected. The Kings home ice win streak reached 15 games following their Game 3 win. Seemingly nothing could stand in their way in evening the series. All of the good juju accompanied with Staples Center was there. As long as every little minute detail stayed in place in the moments leading up to the puck drop, the defending Stanley Cup Champions were undoubtedly winning this game.   PREGAME: When will the lA kings lose at home? **** I hope not today **** #Nervous — who knows? Stanley Cup Final Preview: Defense The Heartbeat Of Boston, Chicago

On Wednesday night, the Blackhawks will host the Bruins in Game One of the Stanley Cup Final. The two Original Six franchises have never met in the Final, and two Original Six franchises haven’t battled for the game’s ultimate prize … Continue reading →The post Stanley Cup Final Preview: Defense The Heartbeat Of Boston, Chicago appeared first on Committed Indians.

Video: Patrick Kane Sends The Chicago Blackhawks To The Stanley Cup Finals With Double OT Winner

At just about midnight in the east, Patrick Kane took a pass on a 2-on-1 rush from Jonathan Towes in the 2nd overtime and buried a one timer past Jonathan Quick to send the Chicago Blackhawks back to the Stanley Cup finals. After the Los Angeles Kings’ Mike Richards tied the game up with ten seconds left in the third period, the two teams exchanged a few scoring chances in the...

Chicago Blackhawks defeat Kings in double OT, head to Stanley Cup Final

It was wild and woolly, but the Chicago Blackhawks scored the game's first goal and the game's last goal in a 3-2 double overtime victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Patrick Kane scored the gamer in what was, ironically, the longest game in Kings history, propelling the Blackhawks to a Western Conference playoff championship and a Stanley Cup Final berth against Boston over...

Paul McCann: Up Against the Wall

In handing the LA Kings their first home loss of the playoffs, notice was served last night, the Chicago Blackhawks are back. No Duncan Keith? No problem as Chicago stepped up their game in a huge 3-2 win, Patrick Kane got his first goal of the series, Marian Hossa had the game winner and Corey Crawford was excellent between the pipes. There has to be a sense of relief running through...

A semi-off-topic kind of entry: not even the Blackhawks can ‘save hockey from itself’

Every year at this time--or within two weeks of the Stanley Cup Final in a non-lockout year, anyway--we tend to hear the media insist that whichever team wins the Cup will shape the game for years to come as each and every one of the 29 defeated teams will obviously completely alter their teams' player personnel and coaching trajectories to emulate the champ. This doesn'...

“Scandalous” Blackhawks Limo Party Pics You’ve Heard About

Republishing from 2010: Chicago Blackhawks players getting drunk and silly in a limo with the young ladies. “Ain’t nothing wrong with that.” Or to quote a famous Chicagoan: “I don’t see nothing wrongggggggggggggggggg, with a little bump n grind.” After the Patrick Kane incident this past summer, this revelation is anything about shocking. But congratulations to the Blackhawks...

Kings lose in OT, ousted from playoffs

CHICAGO (AP) -- Patrick Kane scored his third goal of the game 11:40 into the second overtime period and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the defending champion Los Angeles Kings 4-3 to advance to the Stanley Cup finals on Saturday night. Corey Crawford made 33 saves and Duncan Keith scored in his return from a suspension as the top-seeded Blackhawks eliminated the Kings in five games...

Patrick Kane greatest hits collection: photos

The Chicago Blackhawks are in the Stanley Cup Final versus the Boston Bruins. Time for some Patrick Kane photos. Kaner may have turned the corner in terms of his behavior. At least publicly. I’m sure Patrick Kane matured quite a bit during his time in Switzerland. It helps that he had family watching over him. And we’re not judging Patrick Kane here. The Sports Bank is certainly...

Kings-Blackhawks Preview

When the Chicago Blackhawks were in deep trouble in the second round of the playoffs, they used desperation to their advantage and pulled off a big comeback in an already impressive season. After the Blackhawks lost top defenseman Duncan Keith to a suspension before Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, Chicago didn't let the Los Angeles Kings get even, despite their dominant...

Mum's the word in NHL injury culture

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville didn't want to talk about the injury that forced him to scratch forward Marian Hossa from the Stanley Cup finals against the Boston Bruins. And why not? ''I think that's self-explanatory,'' Quenneville said, once again declining to explain the secrecy that is as much a part of the NHL culture as playoff beards and...

Chicago Blackhawks Make Finals

It took two overtimes but Chicago has beaten the Los Angeles Kings 4-3.  With that win they win their semi-final series 4-1 and move on to face the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup finals. Now is the time that I tell you we have another year with no elite teams in the Stanley Cup finals.  I have had a longstanding test to show a necessary but not sufficient condition for a team...

SCF Preview: Bruins vs Blackhawks

After a 113 day lockout, a shortened 48 game season and fourteen series of playoff hockey, we have arrived at the Stanley Cup Finals in a matchup between the big, bad Boston Bruins and the run-and-gun Chicago Blackhawks. For the first time since 1979, two Original Six teams will face-off in the Finals—go ahead and take a drink. Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Orr played in both cities...

Daily Rundown: Blackhawks Needs 2 OTs to Advance to Stanley Cup Finals

The defending champion Los Angeles Kings were dethroned on Saturday night. It took a pair of overtimes, but Patrick Kane’s goal completed a hat trick and the Western Conference Finals as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Kings 4-3 to win the series four games to one and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Chicago jumped [...]
