After a poor showing by the Southeast Division, they seem to have found their rythm with the Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals both getting wins on Sunday over Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs respectively with a 2-0 score each.
The two teams have been the trailblazers for the Southeast and they are clearly the sides tipped to be among the top eight teams to make it onto the list of 16.
Goals came from Brooks Laich and Mathieu Perreault for the Capitals while Jose Theodore was the star for the Florida Panthers. Inspite of the Capitals’ win they still play second fiddle to Panthers.
The St. Blues and the Calglary Flames stood out in the West. The St. Blues beat Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1. It was not a vintage performance from the Blues but David Perron’s was enough to keep to help them maintain the top spot.
The Calglary Flames’ 4-3 win over the Minnesota Wild gives them a playoff spot to fight for the eighth position in the West. The third period gave a lot to see with six goals being recorded.
We take our hats off for Jaroslav Halak of the Blues who had who had two amazing saves for his team, the more reason why the Blues is still st the top.
