The Los Angeles Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 on Tuesday night to tighten up their Western Conference finals series. The Blackhawks’ lead has been cut to 2-1, but that never would have happened without the heroics of Kings goalie Jonathan Quick in Game 3. We’ve shared some incredible saves by Quick in the past, but the stop he made on Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell on Tuesday night might be his best from this year’s playoffs. Bickell, who scored Chicago’s lone goal on the night, found himself with the puck in front of Quick with just more than three minutes remaining in the third period. With the Kings leading 2-1, Bickell took possession and fired a shot to Quick’s right that was ticketed for the back of the net and would have tied the game up. But that didn’t happen. Somehow, Quick reached out with his right arm and made the save using the inside of his blocker. There is no reason he should have stopped that shot. In fact, even when watching the replay in slow motion it doesn’t look like Quick should have been able to defend it. Enjoy the video: The Blackhawks eventually pulled their goalie late in the game, and Los Angeles forward Dwight King increased his team’s lead with an empty-net goal. After Chicago dominated the first two games on its home ice, the Kings answered back with a big win Tuesday night. Now we’ve got a series.
