Found November 17, 2011 on Puck Daddy:
Please recall last May when Minnesota Wild prospect Mikael Granlund wowed the world with a spectacular lacrosse goal during Finland's semifinal game against Russia in the World Championships. The goal was all the rage in Finland and a commemorative stamp was created in his honor, which sold out on the same day it was released. Mikael's younger brother Markus, a Calgary Flames prospect, is no stranger to the lacrosse goal. He scored one last November in a SM-Liiga game for HIFK and pulled off the move once again today: It was HIFK's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Blues. Markus, who was selected No. 45 overall by the Flames in last June's Entry Draft, currently plays with brother Mikael, who recorded an assist on the goal, for HIFK. It's safe to say that anytime a Granlund brother is behind the net carrying the puck, opposing goaltenders should probably know what's coming. Stick-tap HFBoards

Banged-up Wild continue to win

Injuries have been piling up for the Minnesota Wild, but that hasn't slowed the momentum they have created early in this NHL season. The latest casualty is defenseman Marek Zidlicky who suffered a concussion on their recent road trip. He joins fellow defenseman Greg Zanon and Marco Scandella on the shelf. That makes three key figures on the back end that are now out for a team...

Flames in need of a makeover

It has been two and a half years since the Calgary Flames last played in a postseason game. Due to one poor personnel move after another, the Flames have been on a downhill trend, and it isn’t going to get any better anytime soon. If the Flames want to get back to playoff-contending status, GM Jay Feaster and company should start a full-blown rebuild. There is nothing special...

Koivu strikes twice as Minnesota comes from behind in 3-2 shootout victory

A few weeks ago, Ken Hitchcock's job was as a consultant for the Columbus Blue Jackets and as the occasional call in guest to NHL-themed radio show.  Two weeks ago, the Blue Jackets, still mired as the league's worst team was about to start a little mid-season break and the rumor mill was heating up that Hitchcock could be returned as the Blue Jackets' bench boss as...

Are you ever cursed from a bad memory?  For whatever reason, its a memory that sticks with you that may be a bit uncomfortable or annoying.  Whether that memory is from a trip to the dentist or an unfortunate physical gaffe of just being clutzy or something stupid you said at the worst possible moment those memories can sometimes stick for ages.  All it takes is something to trigger...

Concerns Over Iginla’s Minus-10

from Steve MacFarlane of the Calgary Sun, His next closest competition is another handful back, with current linemates Mikael Backlund and Alex Tanguay and defenceman Jay Bouwmeester all at minus-5 for the year. While Iginla’s five goals have him in a tie for the team lead, he’s nowhere near the top of the NHL charts in that statistical category, one in which he can usually...

Feaster’s Morphing Flames

Not-so-long ago, Jay Feaster was the interim GM of the Calgary Flames, Generally one assumes anyone in an interim position is kinda like the substitute teacher that wants all the students to love him. You know the one that plays Heads Up 7-Up, mixes in a game of floor hockey rather than wind sprints, and watches movies with swear words rather than Lord of the Flies. We all realized...
