The World Junior Hockey Championships were finished today in Ufa, Russia. Look back at the preliminary round here and the playoff round here.
The medal round games had Canada and Russia meeting in the bronze/fourth place game. These teams met in the preliminary round and Canada won 4-1. The gold/silver game pitted defending champions Sweden against USA.
Bronze/4th Game - Russia 6 Canada 5 (overtime) - Russia took an early 2-0 lead in this game. Canada played hard trying to catch up but never took the lead at any point in the game. The game was tied up at three and four goals apiece in the second period and at five all at the end of regulation. After 1:35 of overtime Valeri Nichushkin (2013 draft eligible) scored the game winning goal giving Russia the bronze medal.
