Lindsey Vonn returned to the U.S. last week — in Tiger Woods’ jet, reportedly — to undergo surgery after tearing the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in her right knee as well as breaking a bone in her lower leg during the super-G race in Schladming, Austria. Vonn was airlifted off the mountain after suffering a brutal crash during the race and finally had surgery performed on her shredded knee on Sunday by Dr. William Sterett at the Vail Valley Surgery Center in Vail, Colo.
Dr. Sterett reports that the prognosis is good for Vonn and he expects the skier, after rehabilitation, to be as good as new, saying, “The overall success rate for ACL-MCL surgery is very good. Modern surgical techniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery.”
Vonn released a photo through both her Twitter account and Facebook page showing her relaxing post-surgery in a hospital bed.
Vonn tweeted the following message on Monday:
Success! Surgery went very well yesterday and I’m recovering at home in vail with my family. I want to sincerely… fb.me/1U1BfRZvW
