Liverpool FC has made some signings to strengthen the squad in Brendan Rodgers’s vision to guide Liverpool to the top four and compete will all of the great teams that the Premier League has to offer. With all of the other Premier League teams heavily investing to strengthen their squad, Liverpool most certainly deemed to do the same too. They are fighting for the top prize and that is to win the Premier League competition. Currently, everything is coming together for Liverpool as they sit in first place ahead of the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City with 9 points and 3 clean sheets. They have been fantastic so far but can they keep it up to give them a chance to be the best in England?
Brendan Rodgers new ideas are finally taking shape at Liverpool.
Rodgers is creating a side that will keep a heavy mindset in possession to build the ball from the back to the front line just like he did when he was in charge during his successful spell at Swansea City. Liverpool and Rodgers have had many problems to sort out during the summer with the Luis Suarez saga but that seems to have changed with Suarez confirming his stay at Anfield.
Liverpool were very successful in bringing in top-quality signings such as Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto, Kolo Toure, and Transfer Deadline signings Mamadou Sakho, and Tiago Ilori. They also secured the loan signings Victor Moses from Chelsea and Aly Cissokho. Mignolet has been outstanding in the back making vital saves to keep Liverpool’s clean sheet going perfectly. This of course has to give some credit for the Liverpool defense as well too. Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel have seemed to found their chemistry and form giving the side an asset in keeping them in the game especially against a top side like Manchester United. They were excellent but now seem under pressure to perform consistently well with the signings of Sakho and Ilori who are seen ready to push for a starting spot. This will push the starting pair to fight and play hard in every match so they are not overthrown by these new signings. Kolo Toure has also made a quick transition to life at Anfield and seemingly impressed everyone. Liverpool have done a very good job in trying to add depth in the back so that they could push for major honors should one or two get injured. Jose Enrique will have a new contender in the left back spot as Aly Cissokho joins on loan from Valencia. Enrique usually gets the nod to start a large majority of games and doesn’t really have much depth at left back. Cissokho will be sure to impress and try and convince the manager that he is worth starting.
Liverpool have expanded their midfield options as they have signed Victor Moses on loan and Luis Alberto to strengthen their options out wide as Liverpool have been dealing with the likes of Downing and Assaidi who failed to impress last term. With Gerrard and Lucas Leiva have performed superbly in the middle of the park.
Sturridge has been fantastic in Liverpool’s great start to the season.
They both track back and work hard to break up the opposition play. Lucas has done very well in stopping opposing attackers and produces a reassuring performance to help out the Liverpool defense. To give them that attacking edge, Liverpool turned to Brazilian wonder kid Coutinho, who only joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in January. He has been outstanding in giving the strikers the support that is needed to push for a top four finish. Coutinho and Iago Aspas are the creative force thats giving Liverpool’s in form striker Daniel Sturridge a terrific run of form after scoring 3 goals from 3 starts in this new Premier League season. Then with Luis Saurez expected to return from his suspension against Manchester United in the Carling Cup match on September 25th. This will give Liverpool even more options up front to give them push to fight for a top four finish. Liverpool have an excellent squad with great depth that gives them an advantage over most teams fighting for a place in Europe Could Liverpool finish ahead the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and the 2 Manchester teams?
