Barclay’s Premier League: This season’s top 5 loans

As the Barclay’s Premier League season winds up, many top clubs will be crossing their fingers and praying that their big budget signings can perform up to expectations.  But while many big-budget transfers have stolen the headlines this summer, some clubs were able to bring in quality talent through loan negotiations.  Although temporary, a sharp loan deal can greatly strengthen a squad.  Quite often, an intelligently employed loan-player can make the difference to a club in terms of squad depth and versatility.  These qualities can end up saving a team from relegation or can propel a team from mediocrity and into the top four.  Here are five key loan deals from the recent transfer window. Scott Sinclair- Manchester City to West Bromwich Albion Sam Bagnall/AMA After a frustrating season sitting on Manchester City’s bench, Scott Sinclair must be eager for another crack at some first-team play.  Spending the next season at West Bromwich on loan will ensure that he gets just that.  The winger believes this is the best move for his career at the moment and the club was happy to take on a player with such potential.  With Sinclair’s pace on the wing, the Baggies will surely need to utilize his talents if they wish to continue their mid-table form from last season. Loic Remy- QPR to Newcastle Although he spent much of last season sidelined with injuries, Loic Remy showed that he has the quality to score goals in the Premier League.  As Newcastle’s only signing of the transfer season, fans will be expecting big things from Remy this season.  He has a finisher’s touch and the speed to break past defenders.  Remy has shown discipline troubles in the past, however, and is yet to maintain the consistent performances necessary to be a successful Premiere League striker.  But if he can settle in quickly and maintain fitness, he could be one of Newcastle’s greatest scoring threats. Victor Moses- Chelsea to Liverpool Liverpool has already started this season looking like contenders for a spot in the top four.  Manager Brendan Rodgers made multiple signings this summer, adding more quality and depth to the club in all positions.  Chelsea’s Victor Moses was deemed surplus after the Blue’s transferred in wingers Andre Schürrle and Willian over the summer.  Now that Moses has joined Liverpool’s ranks on loan, the Mersyside club look poised to challenge for a Champion’s League qualification spot.  Moses is a powerful and technically gifted player.  He can take on defenders, as well as drive in shots from distance.  With his additional strength, Liverpool may very well see there hopes realized this season. Gareth Barry- Manchester City to Everton After playing a major role in former manager Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City squad, Gareth Barry has found himself out of place in new manager Manuel Pellegrini’s plans for the club.  At the age of 32, Barry is desperate to maintain his form and fitness for England’s national squad.  Having sold Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United, Everton found themselves in need of a replacement in midfield.  Although not a star player, Barry will bring a great deal of experience and intellect to Everton’s midfield.  He could be a key solidifying factor for Roberto Martinez’s team this year. Romelu Lukaku- Chelsea to Everton Nick Potts/PA Wire Lukaku had a break-out season on loan at West Bromwich Albion last season.  Many Chelsea fans must have certainly thought this would be the year that Romelu would get his chance at Stamford Bridge.  After a few promising performances in preseason, many were surprised when manager Jose Mourinho overlooked the young striker as a first-team player.  Lukaku was allowed to go out on loan after the club decided it would not be dealing Demba Ba to rival club Arsenal.  Having witnessed Lukaku’s talent first-hand at West Brom, Roberto Martinez was quick to bring the striker on loan at Everton.  Martinez’s club is in desperate need of scoring power.  If the quick and towering striker can maintain his previous form, there is no reason why he won’t net over fifteen goals this season.
