Cristiano Ronaldo may have soldiered through a nasty eye injury, but he’s not out of the woods yet. The Real Madrid superstar was dizzy and having trouble seeing out of both eyes after Sunday’s game. He’ll undergo tests to determine the extent of the damage, according to FIFA.com. “He’s dizzy,” Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho said after the game. “In the first half he was unable to see properly with that eye, but during the break he couldn’t see properly with either. So it was impossible for him to continue. When he gets to Madrid he’ll go to hospital to have the tests he needs.” Ronaldo was elbowed in the eye by Levante defender Carlos Navarro in the third minute of Sunday’s contest. The impact caused a deep gash and blood poured from the wound. Real Madrid’s medical staff was able to stop the bleeding, and the Portuguese attacker played on. He amazingly scored the game’s first goal, despite not having proper vision in his left eye during the period. However, the “Cyclops goal” would be the high point of Ronaldo’s day, as Mourinho removed him at halftime. The injury will keep the 27-year-old out of Portugal’s game at Gabon on Wednesday. It’s unknown if he will be able to play on Saturday when Real Madrid meets Athletic Bilbao. Meanwhile, Navarro has assured fans that the elbow was an accident, Football Espana reports. “It was an unfortunate move, as at no time was it my intention to hurt Ronaldo,” he reportedly told Levante’s website. “I regret having done him an injury, but again, it was totally unintentional.” Ronaldo should eventually return from this injury. Exactly when that will happen remains to be seen. Click here for photos of Ronaldo’s girlfriend Irina Shayk>> Have a question for Marcus Kwesi O’Mard?
