Cristiano Ronaldo has added another fashion endorsement to his resume. The Portuguese footballer has been tapped as the new face of watchmaker, Jacob & Co. Ronaldo is featured in a range of ads, modeling the company’s new Ghost and SF 24 timepieces. The campaign is part of a multi-year deal for the soccer star, who is also a longtime fan of the brand. According to WWD, Ronaldo said: “I’ve been a customer and fan of the brand for a long time so it is a natural fit. The brand absolutely stands for leadership in creativity. As a collector of the world’s finest watches, it’s obvious [to me] how much passion Jacob & Co. has for quality. On the set, I fell in love with the new Ghost watch. It’s a perfect fit for my lifestyle as I’m constantly traveling internationally.” Ronaldo is no stranger to the role of fashion brand frontman. He’s modeled for companies including Emporio Armani, Armani Jeans and Pepe Jeans. He’s known to be one of the sharpest dressers in sports and his impeccable style is showcased in his campaign shots. The photos, taken in Madrid by photographer Jose Manuel Ferrater, have him dressed in a leather jacket, a sleek, black suit, and a beige crew neck sweater. Chris Del Gatto, CEO of Jacob & Co., shared the company’s reasons for aligning with Ronaldo: “I think it signifies a complete re-launch of Jacob & Co.,” said Del Gatto of the Ronaldo campaign. “He is one of the most famous soccer players in the world, but more than that he’s one of the most respected athletes in the world. He has attributes that we really feel mirror the Jacob & Co. brand. He’s superstylish, very smart, cares about how he looks and works really hard to stay on top of his game.” The advertisements will launch in May magazines.
