PLAYERS: David Beckham

From Larry Brown Sports:

David Beckham received a yellow card at the end of the Galaxy’s 4-3 loss to San Jose on Saturday after kicking a ball at one of his opponents.

Quakes midfielder Sam Cronin was down on the ground after getting tangled with a Galaxy player on a corner kick in the 91st minute. Beckham may have been frustrated that his team was losing, or he felt like Cronin was faking, so he decided to kick a ball at the fallen midfielder.

Cronin got up in a fury after being kicked with the ball and a scuffle between the teams ensued. Beckham received a yellow card for his actions and will be suspended for the Galaxy’s next game.

Beckham is no stranger to controversy in his MLS games; he actually was more tame this time compared to what happened last year.

  • he made it obvoius that the guy was faking. if he was so hurt why did he jump up like that?
  • Have you ever seen a bigger bunch of cry babies than soccer players? He's DYING until someone kicks a ball at him (don't people kick a ball at him all the time?) and then he can suddenly get up like he's going to do something. Kick...kick...kick...roll on the ground clutching my head...kick... Maybe I could do that for a living.....?
  • Agreed. Apparently the other team member was taking a "break" when Beckham decided, "hey, we've got a game going here. You in or out?" Loved it!
  • This video doesn't even get close to the whole story. Was at the game last night and Cronin did get kicked in the head. It was the end of the game they had been up and down the pitch for 90+ minutes and the Galaxy had blown a 3-1 lead. So was what Becks did wrong? YES Did Cronin take an extra minute to get up? YES
Are there some over exagirations? YES because without them in such a fast paced game the refs will never see you when a foul occurs.

FYI that was only the beginning of it Becks LOST it when the game was over, almost got into it with the Quakes mascot while trying to get at the keeper. He's not only hot headed he's just plain HOT!
  • Why are you trying to defend what we can CLEARLY see on video. Cronin was being a douche and trying to run time off the clock, completely faking (doing a terrible job by the way) and Becks just pointed it out.
  • It was clear he just laid down to waste time did you see how quick he got up when becks floated the ball in emphases on Floated or lobbed the ball are the terms for how becks guided the ball at the player .
If he had wanted to nail the ball in then i could have seen a yellow card ,Cronin or Cryin Crone should have got the yellow for time wasting when are we goin to have video replay it just spoils the game and what could have been a equalizer for the game or any game .
Crone should call his mummy to kiss it better go home and have a soapy bath and mummy can get the rubber duckies out to play or move to Italy they love actors. LOL Cheer's Ps Beck's if you going to get pissed then at least nail the ball next time just stirrin up the pudding.
  • How far as DB when he sent that ball--30 yards? With the target 15 inches high and between two dudes standing three feet part. Vintage Beckham! Ha!
  • Somebody needs to teach that punk some manners. He's basically a coward knowing that his teammates will protect him.
  • time for the ref to say get up and play or start the match as he lays there, very obvious a faking, stalling issue, Cronin should be penalized just like real football players are after league officials view game films in the NFL
