Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has been given the all-clear to feature against Mali despite sustaining a cut on the foot.
The Black Stars captain seems t0 have picked the injury in the 2-2 draw with DR Congo in the opening Group B game at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations last Sunday.
Gyan missed Monday’s training session at the Neslon Mandela University pitch but coach Akwasi Appiah revealed his absence was due to a minor knock.
Team doctor Baba Adamu has now reassured the Al Ain hitman is fit to start against Mali haven completed full scale training with the side on Tuesday.
“He (Asamoah Gyan) is being contained, he played fully today,” Dr Adamu said at the media briefing on Tuesday.
“There is a cut on his foot but he played today fully, didn’t he?”
Gyan’s availability serves as a massive relief to the Ghana team which has been hit with injuries to key players in vital positions.
