CARSON, CA - JUNE 15: Maurice Edu #13 of the USA jogs back to the locker room after warm-up prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against Barbados at the Home Depot Center on June 15, 2008 in Carson, California. USA defeated Barbados 8-0. (Photo by Victor Decolongon/Getty Images)
A week ahead of another battle with El Tri, Jurgen Klinsmann has released his 22 man roster. The big story with this roster is the fact that German-American winger Julian Green will be featured after pledging his allegiance to the Yanks. The roster is made up of all North American players, with the exception of Julian Green who plays for European champions Bayern Munich in Germany. So, here’s a look at the squad by position. Goalkeepers: Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire); Bill Hamid (DC United); Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake) Defenders: DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders); DaMarcus Beasley (Peubla); Matt Besler (Sporting KC); Brad Evans (Seattle); Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy); Clarence Goodson (San Jose Earthquakes); Michael Orozco (Puebla); Michael Parkhurst (Columbus Crew) Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Salt Lake); Michael Bradley (Toronto FC); Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo); Landon Donovan (LA); Maurice Edu (Philadelphia Union, on loan from Stoke City); Luis Gil (Salt Lake); Graham Zusi (KC) Forwards: Clint Dempsey (Seattle); Julian Green (Bayern Munich); Eddie Johnson (DC United); Chris Wondolowski (San Jose) AP Photo/Ted S. Warren Nothing really surprising here. This is Maurice Edu’s first appearance with the national team since the 0-0 draw with Mexico in the Azteca Stadium last one year ago today. DeAndre Yedlin gets a chance to plant his feet on the right back spot against his Sounders teammate Brad Evans, although the right back spot may be Fabian Johnson’s to lose; he is on an absolute tear for his club in Germany. Chris Wondolowski can finally silence the critics with a standout game next Wednesday. He scored both goals for the USMNT in their win over South Korea in February. Julian Green can earn his first cap for the US as well. The match will be played next Wednesday, April 2, in University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona. Ticket sales have already exceeded 47,000. The match will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 11:00 pm ET. I will have a prediction on the starting XI, and preview of the match as well. Sports-Kings contributor Cody Maggard @CodyMaggard10
