Manchester United conclude their Premier League campaign away at Brighton this coming Sunday, May 19. Kick-off is at 4 PM at the Amex Stadium. It has been a chaotic and indifferent season for the Red Devils, with European football on the line on the final day. Here is your Manchester United predicted lineup for the clash on the South Coast.

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Brighton as the Premier League Season Concludes

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Manchester United have lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation all season, with André Onana in goal. Diogo Dalot has been a mainstay at full-back, with Casemiro, normally a midfielder, covering at centre-back amid a sustained defensive crisis. Next to the Brazilian, Jonny Evans started in the most recent games against Crystal Palace and Arsenal due to Harry Maguire’s injury absence, the latter having started the previous games next to Casemiro. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been starting consistently at full-back, changing sides with Dalot depending on the match.

In midfield, 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo has been a mainstay, partnered in the Arsenal game by Sofyan Amrabat as Erik ten Hag looked to solidify the middle of the park. In prior outings, Christian Eriksen was the manager’s preferred choice alongside the young Mancunian.

Alejandro Garnacho has been a permanent fixture on either wing, with Antony, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo and Scott McTominay rotating in the other two positions behind the ever-present Rasmus Hojlund up front.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

The Red Devils registered a morale-boosting win over European rivals Newcastle United on Wednesday night, running out 3-2 winners in yet another chaotic, breathless affair. Before that much-needed 3 points, the team had registered just one win in their previous seven matches, finishing the season with a whimper and losing sight of the Champions League places as the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur disappeared into the distance.

An all-time low Premier League points tally tells its own story, but there have been many mitigating circumstances for Erik ten Hag. An unprecedented injury crisis has forced the Dutchman into fielding over 30 different defensive combinations, with a major part of the layoffs affecting the back line.

It’s hard to know where to start with dissecting this wretched season for Ten Hag’s men. The middle of the park has been a huge issue all year, with the decline of the ageing Casemiro leading to swathes of space between the lines that opponents have exploited with glee, showcased by the record amount of shots the team has faced and the most goals conceded since the 1976/77 season.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

As the Manchester United injury crisis eases, Manchester United welcome back Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial to training, all probably not featuring this weekend but in with a shout of being involved in next weekend’s FA Cup final against Manchester City, Harry Maguire is also expected to be fit in time for the Wembley showpiece. Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount are expected to be out until the end of the season.
