Milan remain in contact with Brest defender Lilian Brassier over a potential January move to San Siro, but are yet to make a final decision. Meanwhile, Napoli have begun to make assessments of the 24-year-old.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Milan’s priority this transfer window is to provide Stefano Pioli with defensive reinforcements. Matteo Gabbia has returned from his loan spell with Villarreal and Filippo Terracciano has been brought in from Hellas Verona

A new centre-back is still the goal and Milan believe they could strike a deal with Brest for a sum of around €10m. Calciomercato notes that the Ligue 1 side would realistically push for a fee in the region of €11m-€13m.

Brassier currently has 18 months remaining on his current contract, which expires in the summer of 2025.

However, Milan are yet to actually submit an official offer, and in the meantime, a series of other clubs across Europe are beginning to queue up.

Milan’s hesitation has allowed clubs like Porto and Monaco to come into the equation.

Saturday’s report indicates that Napoli is now the most recent club to express an interest in Brassier.
