Jermaine Jones in action for the US It’s being reported that United States midfielder Jermaine Jones is trying to orchestrate a move to MLS. The German born American international has been a revelation at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He has started all three games and without a doubt, he’s been the best player to put on the red, white and blue. Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep believes the 32-year-old will attempt to use his world-class showing in Brazil to convince a team in the developing league to sign him as a Designated Player. “His strong performances have not only helped the Americans reach the round of 16, they could also help him carry out a master plan he appears to have put plenty of thought into,” Galarcep wrote. “That plan is to come to Major League Soccer as a designated player.” Jones, a natural holding midfielder, has been very offensive-minded in Brazil. His fantastic goal against Portugal proves that he can be a scoring option. This new skillset will definitely attract multiple teams that’s searching for a two-way midfielder. Jones’ value will also rise because of his experience at the highest level. The midfielder has been competing in the Bundesliga for over a decade. He’s also had successful loan stints at Blackburn Rovers and Beşiktaş. The midfielder is a free agent after his contract with Schalke 04 ended. With his future destination not yet decided, here are five MLS clubs where Jones will certainly blossom. Sporting Kansas City: It’s almost impossible not to succeed in Kansas City. Peter Vermes has built a team that thrives on the unity among the players on and off the field. Vermes admitted that he hasn’t spoken to Jones, but he knows that the league has been communicating with the midfielder. “No, I have not talked to him by any means,” Vermes said. “I know the league is talking to him and we’re kind of in the mix like any other team, but right now it’s not 100 percent. It’s somebody we would keep on our radar, but it’s not a decision that we’ve said, ‘Hey. This is the guy we want.’” If both parties can come to an agreement, Jones will make SKC the strongest side in the league. His presence in behind Vermes’ offensive arsenal will be exactly what the team needs after Uri Rosell departed. Jones can sit in front of the defense and his distribution will make him the perfect creator for a charismatic Dom Dwyer. Chicago Fire: It’s well-known that the Fire desperately needs a No.10 and even though Jones isn’t a natural attacker, he is way better than any midfielder on Chicago’s payroll. The offensive prowess he’s shown in Brazil will fit perfectly alongside Jeff Larentowicz. His energy and dedication to defending should fix Chicago’s leaky defense and the forwards will benefit from his top-notch vision. FC Dallas: Dallas has a plethora of holding midfielders, but none is as good as the German-American. If Oscar Pareja can somehow convince Jones to bring his talents to Texas, his team will instantly become a playoff team. With Mauro Diaz close to returning, Fabian Castillo playing the best soccer of his life, and Tesho Akindele developing into a decent finisher, Jones will be the leader of men in Dallas. The veteran midfielder will guide the team and help the youngsters achieve their full potential. Columbus Crew: Just imagine Federico Higuain, Wil Trapp and Jones in the same midfielder. The three will form an indomitable force that’ll require the likes of Andres Iniesta to break down. Jones’ presence will draw some attention away from both Trapp and Higuain. And as Gonzalo Higuain’s brother has shown in his previous games, if you give him a little space, he’ll make you pay. As for Trapp, more space means more freedom to roam around and dissect defenses with his accurate passes. Chivas USA: Jones has made it clear that he’ll love to play in Los Angeles and since all LA Galaxy’s three DP spots are taken, Chivas is the next option for the midfielder. He’ll definitely be a starter and he should help lift the club out of the bottom of the Western Conference. Jones will rejuvenate Chivas’ lackluster offense and his hard work will improve a lethargic defense. The post MLS: Potential landing spots for Jermaine Jones appeared first on isportsweb.
