Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has described a rejected bid for Yohan Cabaye from Arsenal as "unacceptable".
Speaking prior to Newcastle's Premier League clash at Manchester City, the Magpies' manager expressed his displeasure at the timing of what is thought to be a £12million offer for the midfielder, who was subsequently left out of the line-up.
"On the eve of the game we have received a bid for the player which we deem unacceptable," Pardew told Sky Sports.
"I have to pick what I think is a team to get us a result. The rights and wrongs of it (the bid) other people can have an opinion on. I know what my opinion is.
"I know this is the main focus for the media. My focus is on trying to get a result."
The Frenchman's future has been the subject of speculation on Tyneside this summer but Pardew is determined to keep hold of the player.
Cabaye has made 73 appearances for the club since joining from Lille in 2011 and has become a firm fan favorite for his energetic box-to-box probing.
Pardew knows he can ill afford to lose Cabaye after a frustrating summer in the transfer market which has seen just one new arrival -- on-loan QPR striker Loic Remy, who is currently sidelined with a calf injury.
