PLAYERS: Alan Pardew
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has been dealt a major blow by the news skipper Fabricio Coloccini could be out of action for up to seven weeks. The 31-year-old central defender broke two bones in his back after landing awkwardly as he made a spectacular overhead clearance during his side's 4-2 Premier League victory over Southampton on February 24. Coloccini has been allowed to return to his native Argentina for a week to work with his national association's medical team, but Pardew is expecting him to be sidelined for some time. The manager said: "Colo has gone back to Argentina. There's no treatment he can have - he's broken two of the bones in his back. "We think it's going to be anything between three and seven weeks. He's gone back for a week." Should Coloccini's absence extend to the upper limit of the prognosis, he would miss most of the remainder of the season, and with his future still up in the air - his desire to return to South America in January because of personal problems was much-publicised - the Toon Army may not see very much more of him in a black and white shirt. Just a few weeks ago, his loss would have been catastrophic for the Magpies, whose need to retain his services was all too apparent during the winter transfer window. However, the recruitment of Montpellier's Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has provided Pardew with a ready-made replacement, although should either he or Steven Taylor break down during the remaining weeks of the campaign, the 51-year-old's defensive resources would be stretched once again.

Mancini admits Dzeko may leave

Alan Pardew insisted his side still had plenty of work to do to reach the Europa League quarter-finals after their goalless draw at Anzhi Makhachkala. Hatem Ben Arfa wasted a superb chance to grab a priceless away goal in a dour first-leg tie at a freezing Luzhniki Stadium, but Pardew was delighted to keep a clean sheet. On next week's return clash at St James' Park, Pardew...

Here’s Pardew’s Message To Newcastle Fans In Moscow

Ever since Alan Pardew arrived at Newcastle in December of 2010, he’s been very good with the Newcastle fans, and of course he’s not daft and he realized it’s one of the great strengths of Newcastle United, and he often goes out of his way to thank them and makes sure they know they are [...]

Pardew – I Had No Intention Of Bringing Shola Ameobi

Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, one of the best teams money can buy, are Newcastle’s strongest challenge yet – but that’s usually the case the further you get in any competition, especially in Europe. What Team Will Pardew Start Tonight?

The big question today, just around seven hours form kick-off is what starting eleven will Alan Pardew field tonight against Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala, who look a very good side. Alan Pardew will need to think about Sunday, and certainly he gave some games to players in the Ukraine such as Simpson, Haidara [...]

Pardew – It Would Be Massive To Beat Anzhi Makhachkala

Newcastle are 6 points above the drop zone in the Premier League, but are still in the Europa League last 16, and we take on Anzhi Makhachkala in Moscow tomorrow night, even though Makhachkala is 1115 miles way. I’ve Got Some Great Players In My Team – Pardew

It seems that the injury jinx may be hitting Newcastle again with Papiss Cisse sidelined with a virus and Fab Coloccini now out with his back injury anywhere form three to seven weeks – so that’s a blow to the side. Alan Pardew – I have some great players Of course Coloccini’s absence gives Yanga-Mbiwa [...]

Injury Update: Newcastle’s Star To Train Today

After the game last night Alan Pardew essentially gave an injury update on Papiss Cisse, and it was good news, and he also said that he will probably use Ben Arfa again on Sunday, but we wonder if the Frenchman will start that game against Stoke City. Ben Arfa in action last night Alan made [...]

Anzhi fails to scores against Newcastle

Anzhi Makhachkala and Newcastle United played out a goalless draw in the first leg of their Europa Leagu e last-16 tie in Moscow. Stoke At The Uppermost Of My Thoughts

A win against Stoke City tomorrow and Newcastle fans will be able to relax a little and look forward toi what could be a great game against Anzhi Makhachkala at St. James’ Park where a win will take us through to the Europa League quarter finals for the first time since 2004. Alan Pardew - [...]

I Haven’t Seen Any Team That Really Frightens Me – John Carver

The most experienced coach Newcastle have on board at the moment is Assistant Manager John Carver, at least in Europe, because he was the right hand man when Bobby Robson was at the club and had Newcastle playing in the European Champions league for two seasons back ten years ago. Alan Pardew and John Carver [...]
