After being eliminated from the Coppa Italia, AC Milan will look to immediately bounce back with a positive result at the San Siro against AS Roma.

Milan’s exit from the Coppa Italia came through frustrating and controversial circumstances, and there has to be a marked improvement by the side in this weekend’s Serie A fixture to continue their recent good form in the league.

On the other hand, Roma will also be looking for an instant bounce back, having lost a Derby della Capitale that would have seen them get into the final four of the Coppa Italia.

This season for the Giallorossi has been below average, with Jose Mourinho’s side sitting in ninth – whilst the gap between them and the Champions League places is not massive, the side have been too inconsistent to properly challenge for a place so far.

Roma midfielder, Edoardo Bove spoke to club media after their Coppa Italia exit, and his words have been relayed by MilanNews.

Thoughts on the loss to Lazio?

“A tight game, conditioned by an episode that caught us unprepared at the start of the second half and then we weren’t able to put things right. We tried to get the result back, but losing the derby hurts, and we need to restart against Milan.”

The focus is now on Serie A…
“Absolutely [Serie A is now the focus]. Milan will be a very difficult game. We have to close these wounds with the strength of the group, alone it is much more difficult to overcome these disappointments. The strength of the group will make the difference.”

This group’s strength can always be seen…
“We leave everything on the pitch – matches can go well or badly. The goal is to leave your soul on the pitch.”
