PLAYERS: John Terry
During the 62nd minute of the match between Ukraine and England, Ukraine’s Marko Devic took a shot that got by England’s goaltender. However, the ball did not make it completely into the back of the net before England’s John Terry booted it out. Even though the ball appeared to have completely crossed the line, the ref rulled it a no goal. GIF via sbnation Like the MLB, UEFA has not adopted instant replay yet. Because of this, Ukraine was robbed of a goal and likely a draw with England. Ukraine’s head coach, Oleg Blokhin, was infuriated with the goal line call after the game and according to OIiver Kay and Grant Wahl’s twitter accounts, Blokhin was ready to go toe to toe with a journalist. Unfortunately for the Euro Championship, this is going to be a major moment in the tournament and a one that fans will not forget. England advances to the quarterfinals to play Italy, while Ukraine was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.
