Cincinnati Bengals free agency preview: What will it take to get a playoff win?

Generating a pass rush has been a staple of Cincinnati's defense until last season. Marvin Lewis' defense finished with a league-low in sacks (20) in 2014 -- a season after Michael Johnson's departure. It's a wonder how the team continues to struggle in postseason despite consistently fielding one of the most talented rosters in the conference. Injuries and inconsistent quarterback...

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton gets some respect in this week’s QB Rankings

Quarterback is the most important position in all of sports. That’s why teams are so willing to pony up big bucks to a signal caller when they have (or think they have) a guy who can do the job. One look at the highest paid players in the NFL will support this fact; it’s a list littered with QBs. But part of the equation is also tied to supply and demand. Sometimes, teams are...

As a result, teams look slightly different now than they did when the regular season ended. And that means it’s time to once again grade each franchise in...

Cincinnati Bengals Position Review: Secondary

The Cincinnati Bengals had the 20th best pass defense on paper in 2014. On their way to a 10-5-1 season, the Bengals had a rather solid secondary on the defensive side of the ball. With six former first-round draft picks in the secondary, the Bengals should be expected to have a solid pass defense. As a team, the Bengals allowed 243 passing yards per game last season to put them at...

Should the Cincinnati Bengals consider a TE in the NFL draft?

It may not seem like a glamourous position, as tight end is still viewed by many as a job that is as much about being an offensive lineman as it is a wide receiver. But that’s a notion that is quickly changing, becoming more and more outdated with each passing season. Across the NFL, tight ends are a major part of passing attacks. And their role isn’t just as a possession receiver...

Bengals looking at drafts past and present for defensive fixes

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Bengals went from being ranked No. 3 in defense in 2013 to No. 22 last season, giving up nearly 360 yards a game. How far down did Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton fall in latest Power Rankings?

When people think about an NFL team, usually one person immediately jumps to mind. It’s the player, coach or owner who is most immediately identifiable with the club. It’s the person TV networks use in game promos, the team puts on the cover of the media guide and fans blame when things go awry. It’s the face of the franchise.
