Tennessee Titans don’t earn any 2014 first quarter NFL defensive awards

There’s an old saying in the NFL: Teams can’t win a championship in September, but they certainly can lose one. Translation? Getting off to a good start doesn’t ensure late-season success, but struggling out of the gates almost guarantees that a team won’t be playing in January. That’s why taking a moment to look at the state of the NFL one-fourth of the way through the...

Tennessee Titans Possibly Have a New Thunder and Lightning Combo in the Works?

In today's NFL the trick to a good running game is no longer having one stud running back that can tote the rock 25-35 times a game for every game of the season. No, the secret to rushing success is having at least a two-headed monster (if not three). Kansas City is enjoying that right now with Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis and Philadelphia with Darren Sproles and LeSean McCoy...

Bishop Sankey to see uptick in carries against Browns

The Tennessee Titans are going to find ways to get the ball to rookie running back Bishop Sankey early and often in this weekends game against the Cleveland Browns. “You will see (more reps for Sankey). That’s coming,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “And I think you’ll see more of that earlier in the game this week.” Sankey has been getting more snaps than anyone else in...

Paging Titans Receivers: It's Time to Wake Up

Entering the 2014 season, the Tennessee Titans (1-3) were not expected to be superb; however, the squad of receivers was supposed to be nothing short of good in worst case situations. This has not been the case for the past three weeks, which have all been games where the Titans have lost in a disheartening fashion. At the root of the issue seems to be the receiver corps. While the...

Did any Tennessee Titans crack the latest NFL heroes and goats list?

Some teams are off to a fast start, others are stumbling out of the gates, and a majority are languishing somewhere in the middle. That’s the NFL landscape after four games. How did each team get to their current point? In part, it was because of the performance, good or bad, of some key players and coaches. Some helped their team, while others hurt the squad. Who fell into each...

NFL Stock Watch Risers: Week 4

Bishop Sankey – The Titans opened up the season with a bang, outgaining the Chiefs in yardage 405 to 245, forcing three turnovers, and ending with a 26-10 victory at Arrowhead. But as quick as they started is how quick they have become irrelevant. In the past three weeks, both the offense and defense of the Titans have been suspect, giving up 100 points while scoring 34 leading...

Is Delanie Walker of the Tennessee Titans the best tight end in the NFL today?

Most sportswriters would tell you that Jimmy Graham of the New Orleans Saints is the best tight end playing in the NFL today. I am not one of them. Don’t get me wrong, Graham is a fine tight end but I consider him to be a wide receiver in all but name only. If you take issue with that you should know that Graham himself made the same argument when he was trying to renegotiate his...

Playing from behind becoming a pattern for Tennessee Titans

Charlie Whitehurst (AKA “Clipboard Jesus”) got the start for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday against the Colts. However, even with a healthy Jake Locker, who missed the game with a wrist injury, odds are the outcome wouldn’t have been much different. Andrew Luck and the Colts offense picked apart the Titans defense all afternoon, winning 41-17 to improve to 2-2. Meanwhile, the...

While he didn’t start on Sunday he did get his chance in the fourth quarter of the blowout loss to the Colts. The results were not pretty: Every NFL quarterback...
