2012 Olympic Mixed Doubles Silver Medalist Laura Robson has been granted a wildcard into the main draw of the 2012 New Haven Open at Yale presented by First Niagara, a WTA event that is part of the Emirates Airline US Open Series to be held August 17-25, 2012 at the Connecticut Tennis Center, it was announced today by Tournament Director Anne Worcester.

Robson, who lives in Wimbledon, England, won the 2012 Olympic Mixed Doubles Silver Medal with countryman and World No. 4 Andy Murray. At just 18 years old, she is the youngest player in the WTA Top 100 and currently sits at her career-high ranking of World No. 88. This will be her first appearance at the New Haven Open.

“We’re so happy to welcome Laura to the New Haven Open for the very first time,” said Worcester. “As the youngest player in the WTA Top 100 and an Olympic Silver Medalist, she is making waves throughout the tennis world. This year’s tournament could very well be another breakout event for her.”
