PLAYERS: Roger Federer

Roger Federer captured his 17th Grand Slam win in record fashion yesterday, and stepped up his style game to match. Roger’s on-court clothing choices have long been marked by classic polos, elegant knitwear and monogrammed details, all of which were present in his winning Wimbledon style. After clinching his 7th title at the All England Club, Federer accepted his trophy sporting a sharp sweater and luxury wristwear.

The limited-edition, cashmere, Roger Federer Nike Summer London RF Smash Lawn Sweater featured a ribbed, zip-up neck, RF logo embroidery and touches of subtle green and purple piping. The piece was originally available at Tennis Warehouse Europe and to purchase similar styles, check here. Roger paired it with a golden Rolex Day-Date II watch similar to the one below, to match his new golden trophy.

The Swiss watchmaker is the official timekeeper for Wimbledon and the tournament’s 2012 men’s champ serves as a brand ambassador. Federer has also admitted to being a watch enthusiast, with a Rolex for just about every occasion.

Off-the-court Federer is no stranger to the fashion world, which can be attributed in large part to his relationship with Anna Wintour. A recent New York Magazine article about the tennis star takes time to explore the relationship between these sports/fashion pals. Here’s an excerpt:

“He loves it!” Wintour told me about Federer’s interest in fashion. “He likes the creativity of it; he likes the humor of it; he likes the personality of it.” He shares ideas with her for some of the outlandish outfits he’s worn, like his white sports jacket with gold trim, and a belt he once wore on his tennis trunks. They’ve even traveled together. “I remember years ago I took him to some of the fashion shows in Milan and was able to introduce him to some of the very well-known designers over there and he was just awestruck,” Wintour said. “They were completely over-the-moon to meet Roger, but he was just equally as thrilled to meet them.”

The longtime pals might seem like an unlikely pair, but the Vogue magazine editor-in-chief is often a cheering presence in Federer’s box, as was the case at Wimbledon. And Roger turns to his fashionable friend for sartorial advice.

Perhaps Wintour had a hand in helping Roger to select the shiny tux he wore to the Wimbledon Champions Dinner:

Fallon's new 'At the Bar with Roger Federer'

Jimmy Fallon is absolutely crushing this series where he portrays Roger Federer ‘at the bar.’ The fake accent is as good as it gets, and you have to imagine even Federer thinks it is hilarious. Some of the highlights are Fallon reading ’50 Shades of Grey’ and his ‘exercising’ routine. via Fallon Article found on: Cosby Sweaters

Roger Federer will never be seen again

Comparing players across generations often leads to great discussion but it’s a fruitless debate. No one can truly be right...
