Brandon Ward’s Column
Welcome to the 1st Love/Hate column of the new year. Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania season, time to step your game up! Follow & Feedback @Bow2TheKing6 on Twitter.
Love: The push Antonio Cesaro is getting. The guy has the look, charisma and talent to be that top heel, that WWE has tried to make out of Alberto Del Rio numerous unsuccessful times. Best prospect WWE has had come along since Prototype aka John Cena. HE HAD A WATCHABLE/ MEMORABLE MATCH WITH KHALI! That deserves a world title run, just on that alone.
Hate: That there is no mid card level babyface, that can improve the status of the U.S. title with a meaningful feud over the title with Antonio Cesaro. With his “no American can beat me” gimmick, Antonio could restore pride back to the once great title. He can’t do it alone though, he needs a Dusty or Magnum T.A. to his Nikita Kolov.
Love: RickyMortonSays Twitter parody account. From feuding with Kevin Nash, to “sellin sum ******* out” all over the country. Give the great parody account, the hot tag.
Hate: That teams like the Rock N Roll express, midnite express, fabulous freebirds, and other great Tag TEAMS don’t have a single DVD dedicated to them, in WWE’s vast library. Wonder why good tag team wrestling doesn’t exsist in WWE? Look no further than how the people running, and marketing the company, views Tag Team wrestling. Not much respect there. They apparently would rather glorify their rival (WCW) with countless best of Nitro, and nWo DVDs already released. If we wanted to see that much WCW, it probably wouldn’t have went out of business, and the wrestling industry wouldn’t be under the weight of 1 gorilla controlling the world of wrestling. Excuse me, Sports Entertainment.
Love: That C.M. Punk is gonna get to match wit on the Mic with “The Great One” The Rock. In my opinion Punk hasn’t had a significant moment on the mic since his infamous “Shoot Pipe Bomb” in 2011. I however don’t think that’s by his own doing. Punk was undoubtedly held back after his return in 2011, and HHH got a little uncomfortable, knowing a guy with Punk’s mental being too hot, would threaten the WWE’s current “safe” approach to EVERYTHING.
Hate: That it’s taken almost 2 years, since the epic Pipe Bomb promo, to get an opponent that can/could have carried that heat garnered into more than what we got over the fall of 2011, with the horrible HHH and Nash feuds, that Punk was relegated to.
